Concentration ratio and efficiency in thermophotovoltaics

Solar Energy, 1979
Abstract Very high conversion efficiencies may be expected from solar cells for appropriately tailored spectra. In thermophotovoltaics, concentrated sunlight is used to heat a “black body” cavity which re-emits lower-temperature radiation. Solar cells immersed in the cavity can absorb the higher energy photons present and convert these to electric ...

Ratio imaging of intracellular ion concentration

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1992
The field of intracellular ion concentration measurement expanded greatly in the 1980's due primarily to the development by Roger Tsien of ratiometric fluorescence dyes. These dyes have many applications, and in particular they make possible to image ion concentrations: to produce maps of the ion concentration within living cells.

The gini ratio of concentration reconsidered

Statistische Hefte, 1972
This paper shows the interrelationships between measures of inequality and measures of concentration when applied to the measurement of industrial concentration. Gini’s ratio of concentration isthe reference measure which can be applied both to measure the inequality among firms and — in transformation — to measure concentration in the market.
