Infrared tunable laser: A concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Apparatus in which laser wavelengths of two dyes are mixed in intracavity, nonlinear crystal provides intense source of coherent laser radiation which is tunable from visible through infrared wavelengths of electromagnetic ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Concept generation for persuasive design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Designing ‘persuasive’ products and services for social benefit often involves adopting and adapting principles and patterns from other disciplines and contexts where behaviour change is a goal.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

State Sovereignty: Concept and Conceptions

open access: yesInternational Journal for the Semiotics of Law - Revue internationale de Sémiotique juridique
AbstractThe terms “sovereignty” and “state” are used very loosely in scholarly literature. “State sovereignty” is central to many scholarly disciplines and controversial real case scenarios, including territorial disputes; pandemics; arms, drug and human trafficking; terrorism; and the flow of refugees.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

An Application of Crystal Plasticity to predict Forming Limit Curve of Dual-Phase Steels with Validation [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
In this paper an alternative approach for generating Forming Limit Curve (FLC) of a Dual-Phase (DP800) steel is presented and validated. Investigation was performed using a rate-dependent crystal plasticity (CP) framework solved through a spectral solver

Acting on behalf of the concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper discusses how drama process and techniques are providing alternative approaches to product concept generation. An investigation that used drama techniques for concept generation sessions observed that there appears to be an implicit response ...
