Algorithm Animations for Teaching and Learning the Main Ideas of Basic Sortings

open access: yesInformatics in Education, 2017
Algorithms are hard to understand for novice computer science students because they dynamically modify values of elements of abstract data structures. Animations can help to understand algorithms, since they connect abstract concepts to real life objects

Search Algorithms for Conceptual Graph Databases

open access: yesInternational Journal of Database Management Systems, 2013
We consider a database composed of a set of conceptual graphs. Using conceptual graphs and graph homomorphism it is possible to build a basic query-answering mechanism based on semantic search. Graph homomorphism defines a partial order over conceptual graphs.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Hospital Readmission After Traumatic Brain Injury Hospitalization in Community‐Dwelling Older Adults

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the risk of hospital readmission after an index hospitalization for TBI in older adults. Methods Using data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study, we used propensity score matching of individuals with an index TBI‐related hospitalization to individuals with (1) non‐TBI hospitalizations (primary analysis)

Rapid geometry definition for multidisciplinary design and analysis of an aircraft

open access: yesAviation, 2016
Conceptual and preliminary design level of aircraft design is searching for an easy, flexible and efficient way of computational geometry definition. Accelerating the process of geometry definition is the basic step for acceleration of all computations ...

Conceptual K-Means Algorithm with Similarity Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The conceptual k-means algorithm consists of two steps. In the first step the clusters are obtained (aggregation step) and in the second one the concepts or properties for those clusters are generated (characterization step). We consider the conceptual k-means management of mixed, qualitative and quantitative, features is inappropriate.

Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Global Digital Culture| The Lurker and the Politics of Knowledge in Data Culture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communication, 2017
This article explores the practice of lurking, developing the figure of the lurker as a conceptual persona. The lurker is a sage of the digital era, constructing a form of “private” knowledge.

Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...

An Empirical Study of a Simple Incremental Classifier Based on Vector Quantization and Adaptive Resonance Theory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science
When constructing a new data classification algorithm, relevant quality indices such as classification accuracy (ACC) or the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) should be investigated. End-users of these algorithms are interested
