Razão, realismo e verdade: o que nos ensina o estudo sociognitivo da referência

open access: yesCadernos de Estudos Lingüísticos, 2011
In this paper we shall examine some recent developments in the study of reference, namely those which assumes a textual, interactive, social-cognitive view of the phenomenon, and point to new contributions that Fauconnier’s Mental Spaces ‘Theory can make

Photo‐Switchable Molecular Module Programming PET Biodegradation in Aquatic Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We address the plastic durability paradox by integrating an itaconic acid–derived pyrrolidone module into polymer backbones. Sunlight in water triggers Norrish Type I ring‐opening and hydrophilization, enabling rapid biodegradation into nontoxic minerals.

Black humour processing in the light of the conceptual integration theory and the benign violation theory

open access: yesExELL (Explorations in English Language and Linguistics), 2019
The aim of the paper is to reveal that humour processing is an exertion which requires both, mental and emotional capacities. To prove the point, two theories for humour processing were employed: the conceptual integration theory and the benign violation

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Hybrid Ferroelectric Tunnel Junctions with Intrinsic Nonlinearity and Self‐Rectification via Interfacial Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid thermal annealing reconstructs the BCFO/Nb:STO interface into an atomically thin reconstructed interfacial layer, which reshapes the tunneling barrier and converts a high‐TER ferroelectric tunnel junction into an intrinsically nonlinear, self‐rectifying device.

CONCEPTUAL BLENDING AS AN IMPORTANT THEORY IN COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS

open access: yes
This article presents a comprehensive examination of conceptual blending theory as one of the foundational frameworks of cognitive linguistics. The paper outlines the theoretical origins of the theory in Fauconnier's mental spaces model, describes its core architecture of input spaces, generic space, and blended space, and evaluates its explanatory ...

Creating Musical Cadences via Conceptual Blending

open access: yes, 2017
The cognitive theory of conceptual blending may be employed to understand the way music becomes meaningful and, at the same time, it may form a basis for musical creativity per se. This work constitutes a case study whereby conceptual blending is used as
