Technique for Harvesting of Conchal Cartilage Grafts
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1997Conchal cartilage is an important source of cartilage for the rhinoplasty surgeon [Falces E, Gorney M: Plast Reconstr Surg 50:147, 1972; Hage J: Brit J Plast Surg 18:92, 1965; Juri J et al: Plast Reconstr Surg 63:377, 1979]. We describe a technique to harvest conchal cartilage which minimizes morbidity for the patient and produces an excellent scar.

Donor Site Morbidity Post-Conchal Cartilage Grafting
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1997Morbidity of the conchal cartilage donor site is evaluated in this article. Forty-two patients (from 1984-1994) with 44 donor sites were reviewed retrospectively. In 27 cases an anterior approach was used and in 17 cases a posterior approach was used.

The conchal cartilage graft in nasal reconstruction
Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2007Graft selection remains a problem in nasal reconstruction, where the use of autologous cartilage still provides the best resistance to infection and a low degree of resorption. As the nasal septum is often absent or insufficient in such patients, the auricular concha offers a valid alternative.

A Novel Conchal Cartilage Harvesting Technique
Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryConchal cartilage is generally favored in rhinoplasty with a satisfied aesthetic outcome. However, patients may suffer from postoperative donor auricle deformities. This study introduced a novel conchal cartilage harvesting technique which can minimize the deformity of auricle and harvest the sufficient amounts of grafts. This study proposed preservation

Otoplasty: Excision of conchal floor cartilage
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1980In 10 consecutive otoplasties, conchal floor cartilage was excised to facilitate rotating prominent ears back against the head. The procedure is most effective in aural prominence due to deep conchae. Cosmetic improvement is as good as that achieved by excision of posterior wall cartilage, and recontouring of the antihelix fold is needed less often ...

Iatrogenic Conchal Defect Secondary to Auricular Cartilage Graft
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2018Background: Cleft lip and palate are the most common craniofacial congenital malformations. Timing of the nasal repair remains somewhat controversial. Some authors perform a combined nasal and lip repair in infancy while others advocate for a staged repair with the nasal component occurring later in childhood.

Decellularized Caprine Conchal Cartilage toward Repair and Regeneration of Damaged Cartilage
ACS Applied Bio Materials, 2019Repair and regeneration of nasal and auricular cartilage thrust significant challenges in reconstructive surgery. The burgeoning clinical requirement is yet to endorse a satisfactory cartilage replacement matrix. In this regard, we have bioengineered cross-linked decellularized caprine conchal cartilage (DC) as biocompatible, durable, and nontoxic ...

Lower Eyelid Reconstruction with a Conchal Cartilage Graft
Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 1987A conchal cartilage graft without skin or mucosa was used as a posterior lining for lower eyelid reconstruction in seven patients. The raw surface of the graft was smooth enough to cause no corneal irritation and was epithelialized from the surrounding mucosa about 3 to 4 weeks after the operation. The lower eyelid reconstructed in this method produced

Repair of Traumatic Orbital Wall Defects Using Conchal Cartilage
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2006The authors' aim was to investigate the efficiency of conchal cartilage grafts in defective orbital wall fractures, which are encountered isolated or in combination with other orbitozygomatic fractures. The authors assessed, for this purpose, the follow-up results of patients treated by using conchal cartilage grafts.Ten patients who had defective ...
