Correction of the hypertrophic conchal bowl without cartilage excision
Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2014We present our technique for conchal bowl reduction. The procedure is fast, easy to learn and reproducible. The technique has now been used in a consecutive series of 208 ears. We describe the steps taken and the outcomes. The main aims of this procedure were; the preservation of conchal bowl width and avoidance of cartilage excision.

The Use of Conchal Cartilage Graft in Involutional Entropion
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1990A simple and stable technique for repairing involutional entropion is described. Through a transconjunctival incision between the lower border of tarsus and the lower lid retractor, the eyelid is divided between the tarsus and the orbicularis oculi muscle into external and internal layers.

Autogenous conchal cartilage as a replacement after a diskectomy
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1992A surgical procedure to place autogenous conchal cartilage as an interpositional graft after a diskectomy is described. The apparent advantages of this procedure are as follows: (1) the form of the external ear corresponds to joint morphology; (2) a graft of adequate size can be harvested; (3) the form of the external ear remains unchanged after ...

Malar Augmentation Using Autogenous Composite Conchal Cartilage and Temporalis Fascia
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1988Prominent malar regions are considered by many in Western society to be a mark of beauty. The increased awareness of this important aesthetic feature has made correction of the poorly defined cheekbone one of the goals of aesthetic surgery of the face. Procedures incorporating alloplastic materials have been described.

Dorsal Augmentation with Diced Conchal Cartilage Wrapped in Retroauricular Fascia
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 2019Dorsal augmentation is of primary importance to shape an ideal nose. Although costal cartilage is still used for this purpose, diced cartilage grafts wrapped in autogenous fascia became more and more popular in recent decades. In this paper, the authors report their experience with a new combination made by diced conchal cartilage wrapped in ...

Use of Diced Conchal Cartilage with Perichondrial Attachment in Rhinoplasty
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2015The conchal cartilage is favored in nasal tip surgery, but is limited in dorsal augmentation. The authors evaluated diced conchal cartilage with perichondrial attachment in augmentation of the nasal dorsum, radix, and/or tip.The medical records of 37 patients who underwent rhinoplasty using diced conchal cartilage with perichondrial attachment as an ...

Tympanoplasty using conchal cartilage graft.
Acta oto-rhino-laryngologica Belgica, 2004Cartilage has been used successfully as a graft in middle ear surgery. It used to be reserved for advanced pathology because of its possible detrimental effect on postoperative hearing. Recent papers however failed to prove this effect. The present study describes the authors' experience in 161 cases of conchal cartilage tympanoplasty. In tympanoplasty

Donor site morbidities resulting from conchal cartilage harvesting in rhinoplasty
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2017AbstractObjective:Conchal cartilage is frequently used in rhinoplasty, but donor site morbidity data are seldom reported. This study aimed to investigate the complications of conchal cartilage harvesting in rhinoplasty. Methods:A retrospective chart review of 372 patients who underwent conchal cartilage harvesting for rhinoplasty was conducted.
