Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2000Septal cartilage grafts are frequently required in rhinoplasties and nasal reconstructions. Unfortunately, sufficient septum is not always available for graft purposes. Conchal cartilage can serve as a substitute, but its usefulness is limited because of its soft, elastic nature.

Endaural brain hernia: repair using conchal cartilage.
The Journal of otolaryngology, 1982A case of endaural brain herniation is presented. Reduction of the hernia and repair of the tegmental defect from below was carried out using a plate of conchal cartilage. The entity of endaural brain hernia is briefly viewed, with a discussion of techniques of surgical management. The advantages of otologic repair in suitable cases are listed.
