Regression via order statistics and their concomitants

Statistics, 2012
We consider a five-dimensional normal distribution and derive the exact joint distribution one variable, linear combinations of order statistics from two other variables, and linear combinations of the corresponding concomitants of these order statistics. We show that this joint distribution is a mixture of trivariate unified skew-normal distributions.

A Note on Extremes of Concomitants of Order Statistics

Extremes, 2000
For a sequence \((X_n,Y_n)_{n\geq 1}\) of identically distributed (not necessarily independent) bivariate r.v.s an asymptotic distribution \(M_{k:n}=\max(Y_{[n-k-1:n]},\dots,Y_{[n:n]})\) is studied (\(n\to\infty\)), where \(Y_{[r:n]}+\sum_{i=1}^n Y_i{\mathbf 1}\{X_{r:n}=X_i\}\) is the cocomitant of the \(r\)-th order statistics \(X_{r:n}\). It is shown

The asymptotic theory of concomitants of order statistics

Journal of Applied Probability, 1974
In a random sample of n pairs (X r , Y r ), r = 1, 2, …, n, drawn from a bivariate normal distribution, let Xr :n be the rth order statistic among the Xr and let Y [r:n] be the ...

On an application of concomitants of order statistics

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2016
ABSTRACTLet (Xi, Yi), i = 1, …, n be a pair where the first coordinate Xi represents the lifetime of a component, and the second coordinate Yi denotes the utility of the component during its lifetime. Then the random variable Y[r: n] which is known to be the concomitant of the rth order statistic defines the utility of the component which has the rth ...

Order statistics with multivariate concomitants: stochastic comparisons

Statistics, 2015
Let (Xi,Yi)=(Xi,Yi(1),Yi(2),…,Yi(k)), i=1,2,…, be a sequence of independent and identically distributed (k+1)-dimensional random vectors. Furthermore, let X1:n≤X2:n⋯≤Xn:n be the order statistics based on the first coordinates of the first n elements in the sequence, and let Y[1:n],Y[2:n],…,Y[n:n] be the corresponding k-dimensional concomitants. Correlation analysis of ordered symmetrically dependent observations and their concomitants of order statistics [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, 2006
AbstractGiven two jointly observed random vectors Y and Z of the same dimension, let Y be a reordered version of Y and Z the resulting vector of concomitants of order statistics. When X is a covariate of interest, also jointly observed with Y, the authors obtain the joint covariance structure of (X, y, Z) and the related correlation parameters ...
