Subsurface State Bilayer in Tetragonal Ferroelectric BaTiO3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The subsurface Ba2+disorder, reveals the pairs of O vacancies (VO++$V_O^{ + + }$ s) and small polarons (SPe‐SPe−$SP_e^ - $ s) (Figure a–b), with the charge balance, as the following: Ti3++[VO+++SPe−]pair↔Ti4+${{T}_i}^{3 + } + {{[V_O^{ + + } + SP_e^ - ]}_{pair}} \leftrightarrow T_i^{4 + }$ which is consistent with observed low‐energy electron ...

Oedometer Study Regarding the Consolidation Behavior of Nanjing Soft Clay

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Ground settlement resulting from consolidation may lead to tilted buildings, cracks in the pavement, damage to underground utilities, etc. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the consolidation behaviors (including primary consolidation and secondary ...

Temperature Dependent Spin Dynamics in La0.67Sr0.33MnO3/Pt Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Visualization of inverse spin Hall effect due to scattering of the injected pure spin current via spin pumping ferromagnetic resonance in LSMO/Pt micro device. Abstract Complex ferromagnetic oxides such as La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) offer pathways for creating energy‐efficient spintronic devices with new functionalities.

Influence of apparent wave velocity on seismic performance of a super-long-span triple-tower suspension bridge

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
As one of the main characteristics of seismic waves, apparent wave velocity has great influence on seismic responses of long-span suspension bridges. Understanding these influences is important for seismic design.

Some reflections on the relationship between logical incompleteness and concrete incompleteness [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, we aim to conceptually examine the relationship between logical incompleteness and concrete incompleteness which both study the incompleteness phenomenon. We argue for two main theses. Firstly, the current research on concrete incompleteness reals both similarities and differences between logical incompleteness and concrete ...

Chemical AI in the Limelight: The Contribution of Photochromic Materials and Oscillatory Chemical Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Photochromic compounds are versatile ingredients for the development of Chemical AI. When they are embedded in a tight microenvironment, they become Markov blankets. They are also valuable for processing Boolean and Fuzzy logic. They contribute to neuromorphic engineering in wetware based on opto‐chemical signals exchanged with oscillatory chemical ...

Concrete Duality for Strict Infinity Categories [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
An elementary theory of strict $\infty $-categories with application to concrete duality is given. All known famous dualities (Gelfand-Naimark, Pontryagin, Stone, etc.) are so-called natural. A criterion of existence of such a duality for higher categories is formulated. New examples are presented.

Origin of the Laser‐Induced Picosecond Spin Current Across Magnetization Compensation in Ferrimagnetic GdCo

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Picosecond spin current pulses generated by ferrimagnetic GdCo are studied via THz emission spectroscopy. Due to the GdCo micromagnetic structure, the spin current vanishes at compensation when a magnetic field is applied but persists for zero field. At room temperature, the THz spin current is dominated by Co. At low temperatures, Gd can significantly
