Shielding resources for four common radiopharmaceuticals utilized for imaging and therapy: Tc‐99m, F‐18, I‐131, and Lu‐177

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The use of radioactive materials in the United States has been tightly regulated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other entities for many decades. In 2015, however, the Joint Commission began to require hospital‐based nuclear medicine departments to conduct shielding designs and evaluations for radioactive material areas ...

A Novel Digitalization Approach for Smart Materials – Ontology‐Based Access to Data and Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In order to access heterogeneous material data and model‐based knowledge, the established ontology‐based data access (OBDA) is extended to include material models. This novel ontology‐based data and model access (OBDMA) enables the computation of new responses beyond stored data.

Frequency-Based Cable Tension Identification Using a Nonlinear Model with Complex Boundary Constraints

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2023
Accurate estimation of the cable force affects the bridges’ long-term integrity and serviceability directly. The frequency method is often used for cable tension testing in bridge engineering.

Development and Influence of Pore Pressure around a Bucket Foundation in Silty Soil

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Silty soil is common in the seabed of eastern coastal areas of China. The behaviors of the silty soil and a bucket foundation installed within it need more study. In this work, model tests of a bucket foundation in silty soil were performed.

FAIR and Structured Data: A Domain Ontology Aligned with Standard‐Compliant Tensile Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The digitalization in materials science and engineering is discussed, emphasizing the importance of digital workflows and ontologies in managing diverse experimental data. Challenges such as quality assurance and data interoperability are tackled with semantic web technologies, focusing and introducing the tensile test ontology (TTO).

Analysis of the Vertical Dynamic Response of SDCM Piles in Coastal Areas

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The stiffened deep cement mixing (SDCM) pile, as a new type of rigid–flexible composite pile, significantly enhances the vertical bearing capacity of traditional precast piles, thus holding broad application prospects in the substructure construction of ...

Estimating CPT Parameters at Unsampled Locations Based on Kriging Interpolation Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The cone penetrometer test (CPT) has been widely used in geotechnical investigations. However, how to use the limited CPT data to reasonably predict the soil parameters of the unsampled regions remains a challenge.

Semantic network analysis of abstract and concrete word associations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In recent years, a new interest for the use of graph-theory based networks has emerged within the field of cognitive science. This has played a key role in mining the large amount of data generated by word association norms. In the present work, we applied semantic network analyses to explore norms of French word associations for concrete and abstract ...

Bond–slip Behavior of Fiber-reinforced Polymer/concrete Interface in Single Shear Pull-out and Beam Tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
It has been assumed that the fiber-reinforced polymer/concrete interface is subjected to in-plane shear condition when intermediate crack debonding failure occurs.

Modeling and Accessing Smart Materials with Integrity Constraints in the Shapes Constraint Language and Ontologies—The SmaDi Way

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Integrity constraints enforce consistency and completeness on data. The article discusses a newly developed validator for checking integrity constraints in Shapes Constraint Language (SHACL) through reduction to SPARQL Protocol and RDF Query Language (SPARQL) queries. It can be used with systems for ontology‐based database access.
