Self-accelerating solutions in massive gravity on an isotropic reference metric
Within the framework of the recently proposed ghost-free massive gravity, a cosmological constant-type self-accelerating solution has been obtained for Minkowski and de Sitter reference metrics. We ease the assumption on the reference metric and find the

Effects of Changing Surrounding Conditions on the Thermal Analysis of the Moste Concrete Dam [PDF]
This paper deals with the heat transfer analysis of the 63 years old and 60 metres high Moste concrete arch-gravity dam, located in NW Slovenia, which was performed after a new sophisticated monitoring system had been established, making it possible to ...

Seismic Damage Analysis of Concrete Gravity Dam Based on Wavelet Transform
The key to the dam damage assessment is analyzing the remaining seismic carrying capacity after an earthquake occurs. In this paper, taking Koyna concrete gravity dam as the object of study, the dynamic response and damage distribution of the dam are ...

Structural Analysis of the Support System for a Large Compressor Driven by a Synchronous Electric Motor [PDF]
For economic reasons, the steam drive for a large compressor was replaced by a large synchronous electric motor. Due to the resulting large increase in mass and because the unit was mounted on a steel frame approximately 18 feet above ground level, it ...

$f(T)$ non-linear massive gravity and the cosmic acceleration
Inspired by the $f(R)$ non-linear massive gravity, we propose a new kind of modified gravity model, namely $f(T)$ non-linear massive gravity, by adding the dRGT mass term reformulated in the vierbein formalism, to the $f(T)$ theory.

Seismic Simulation and Base Sliding of Concrete Gravity Dams
A simplified procedure to estimate possible base sliding of concrete gravity dams induced by an earthquake is proposed on the basis of results obtained by parametric analysis. A simple mechanical model is developed to take into account the most relevant parameters influencing seismic response such as dam-water and dam-foundation interaction.

Fish pass design - criteria for the design and approval of fish passes and other structures to facilitate the passage of migratory fish in rivers [PDF]
Many of British rivers hold stocks of salmon (Salmo salar L.) and sea trout (Salmo trutta L.) and during most of the year some of the adult fish migrate upstream to the head waters where, with the advent of winter, they will eventually spawn.

A Case Study On Zoning And Construction Of Roller-Compacted-Concrete Gravity Dams
In order to make full use of the concrete strength, reduce the amount of cementitious materials and simplify the temperature control measures, a roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam needs to be zoned reasonably in consideration of locations and working ...
