Synthesis, Experimental and Density Functional Theory (DFT) Studies on Solubility of Camptothecin Derivatives

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Two camptothecin derivatives, 10-cyclohexyl-7-methyl-20(S)-camptothecin and 7-methyl-10-morpholino-20(S)-camptothecin, were synthesized and their differences in solubility were investigated using four chosen solvent systems.

Consecutive Three-Component Synthesis of Donor-Substituted Merocyanines by a One-Pot Suzuki–Knoevenagel Condensation Sequence

open access: yesOrganic Materials, 2020
The consecutive three-component Suzuki-Knoevenagel condensation (SuKnoCon) synthesis is an efficient, modular one-pot synthetic approach to donor-substituted merocyanines with carboxylic acid functionality.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Phase transitions in nuclear matter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Phase transitions in nuclear matter A method for the description of spin-isospin phase transitions in nuclear matter is developed. It allows a complete description of the pion condensation phase transition in the framework of the Landau-Migdal Fermi ...

Dynamical Supersymmetry Breaking and the Linear Multiplet [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We analyze gaugino condensation in the presence of a dilaton and an antisymmetric tensor field, with couplings reminiscent of string theories. The degrees of freedom relevant to a supersymmetric description of the effective theory below the scale of ...

Expeditious, mechanochemical synthesis of BODIPY dyes

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
BODIPY dyes have been synthesized under solvent-free or essentially solvent-free conditions, within about 5 minutes in an open-to-air setup by using a pestle and mortar, with yields that are comparable to those obtained via traditional routes that ...

Cytoplasmic condensation induced by membrane damage is associated with antibiotic lethality

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Bactericidal antibiotics kill bacteria by perturbing various cellular targets and processes. Disruption of the primary antibiotic-binding partner induces a cascade of molecular events, leading to overproduction of reactive metabolic by-products.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Effects of Bose-Einstein Condensation on forces among bodies sitting in a boson heat bath [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We explore the consequences of Bose-Einstein condensation on two-scalar-exchange mediated forces among bodies that sit in a boson gas. We find that below the condensation temperature the range of the forces becomes infinite while it is finite at ...

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.
