Human Foetal Neuroblasts Exhibit BK Channel‐Dependent Membrane Voltage Oscillations upon Depolarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Primary cultures of neuroblasts isolated from the nucleus basalis of Meynert of 12‐weeks‐old human foetuses were prepared. Whole‐cell patch‐clamp recordings were performed by injecting a depolarizing stimulus current (+500 pA; 500 ms), and the membrane voltage recorded; this stimulus current evoked periodic‐like oscillations in membrane voltage ...

Effect of Condenser Subcooling of the Performance of Vapor Compression Systems: Experimental and Numerical Investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents a theoretical and experimental analysis of the effect of condenser subcooling on the performance of vapor-compression systems. It is shown that, as condenser subcooling increases, the COP reaches a maximum as a result of a trade-off ...

Co-pyrolysis of palm fresh fruit bunch and used cooking oil sludge: Effect of feedstock ratio on bio-oil yield and properties using a multi-stage condensation system

open access: yesCase Studies in Chemical and Environmental Engineering
This study investigates an integrated gasifier–pyrolysis–condensation system, in which a cross-draft gasifier is used as the heat source for co-pyrolysis of palm fresh fruit bunch (FFB) and used cooking oil sludge (UCOS). The work examines direct heating

Nanovesicles With Mechanically Induced Adjuvanticity for Robust Melanoma Vaccination Toward Tumor‐Associated Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rigidity‐tunable nanovesicle (P‐Pm) with mechanically induced adjuvanticity toward tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) was designed to engineer R848/gp100 antigen ‐loaded nanovaccine (P@Rg‐Pm), which achieved outstanding anti‐tumor outcomes in both therapeutic and preventive model of B16‐F10 melanoma.

Chromatin Packing Domain Engineering Through the Manipulation of Nuclear Cationic States

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Manipulation of intranuclear divalent cation concentrations rapidly and reversibly remodels chromatin packing domains in living cells. Magnesium depletion disrupts domain compaction, heterochromatin organization, and transcriptional regulation, whereas magnesium loading promotes more compact and stable domains.

Maximizing the Energy Output of Soft Electrohydraulic Generators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Many energy resources cannot be viably harvested with electromagnetic generators. This article evaluates the potential of soft electrohydraulic generators as an alternative approach for energy capture. An analytical model charts their operational limits and a rigorous experimental study results in new performance benchmarks with maximum specific energy

Intrinsic Phonons as a Dynamic Control Knob for Catalytic Reactivity in 2D Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intrinsic phonon excitations are demonstrated to serve as a dynamic control knob for catalytic reactivity in 2D materials. Mode‐selective lattice vibrations reconstruct the electronic structure, lower oxygen evolution reaction barriers, establishing a phonon‐engineering paradigm for dynamically regulating electrocatalysis beyond conventional static ...
