Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

Clinical characteristics and prognosis of adult orbital cellulitis in a tertiary general hospital

open access: yesScientific Reports
Adult orbital cellulitis (OC) is a rare ophthalmic condition. This study aimed to identify risk factors influencing the prognosis of adult OC by evaluating the clinical characteristics and prognosis in an Asian population in southern Taiwan.

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...

Prognostic value of serum growth differentiation factor-15, brain natriuretic peptide and adiponectin in patients with acute myocardial infarction

open access: yesZhongguo linchuang yanjiu
Objective To investigate the expression levels of serum growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and adiponectin (APN) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and their prognostic evaluation value.

Machinery condition prognosis using multivariate analysis

open access: yes, 2006
Condition prognosis is an essential element for predicting the health of physical assets. Prognosis enables a projection of asset condition progression from the past and current into the future, thus providing a significant input into the asset related ...

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

Integration of disparate data sources to perform maintenance prognosis and optimal decision making

open access: yes, 2012
Prognosis can be defined as the course of predicting a failure of equipment or a component in advance, whereas prognostication refers to the act of prediction.
