Self‐Transcendence and Self‐Enhancement Values as Drivers of Eco‐Travel Behavior. Implications for Business Strategies for Eco‐Tourism Sector

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ecotourism encourages environmentally friendly travel; however, little is known about the underlying value systems influencing travelers' choices and actions. This study uses a mixed‐method methodology that combines post hoc qualitative analysis with a large‐scale quantitative survey to examine the influence of multiple value dimensions on ...

Dynamic Control of Nucleic Acids Self‐Assembly and Expression Using Photoswitches

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We review here the recent progress made in the design of molecular photoswitches, and highlight their implementation for the dynamic control over nucleic acids self‐assembly and expression. ABSTRACT Synthetic nucleic acids have become readily available and now constitute versatile building blocks in materials science—where they can be used to engineer ...

Influence of Head‐to‐Tail Cyclization of Lanmodulin‐Inspired Peptides on Lanthanide Affinity and Structure

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The influence of head‐to‐tail cyclization, as well as the effect of ring expansion with an additional glycine on lanmodulin‐inspired peptides on the structure and lanthanide (Ln)‐binding behavior was investigated. While the decrease of structural flexibility can indeed increase the Ln affinity and peptide pre‐organization, it does not lead to an ...

From Caffeine to Aspirin: Everyday Molecules as Triggers for Genetically Encoded Proximity Systems

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This Perspective article highlights how familiar dietary ingredients and over‐the‐counter (OTC) drugs (such as caffeine and its metabolites, SA, and aspirin) can be repurposed as clinically translatable chemical triggers for genetically encoded proximity systems.

Asymptotic properties of cross‐classified sampling designs

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate the family of cross‐classified sampling designs across an arbitrary number of dimensions. We introduce a variance decomposition that enables the derivation of general asymptotic properties for these designs and the development of straightforward and asymptotically unbiased variance estimators.

Nonlinear permuted Granger causality

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Granger causality is an established, contentious method that seeks causal temporal connections via association and precedence. While not true causal inference, it assists in mapping networks of information flow that may warrant further study.
