Reduced-Order Models and Conditional Expectation: Analysing Parametric Low-Order Approximations

open access: yesComputation
Systems may depend on parameters that can be controlled, serve to optimise the system, are imposed externally, or are uncertain. This last case is taken as the “Leitmotiv” for the following discussion.A reduced-order model is produced from the full-order

RETREG1‐Mediated Reticulophagy is Essential for Dendritic Cell Maturation and Function in Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reticulophagy regulator 1 (RETREG1) maintains dendritic cell (DC) maturation and function in early sepsis. Mechanistically, activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) acts as a direct transcription factor regulating RETREG1 expression in response to sepsis‐induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.

Inhibition of SLC11A1‐Mediated Lysosomal Iron Accumulation in Microglia Promotes Repair Following White Matter Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genetic and pharmacological inhibition of SLC11A1 functioning as an H+/Fe2+ antiporter–mediated lysosomal iron accumulation in microglia promotes lysosomal lumen acidification, increases CTSD expression, enhances lysosomal myelin debris uptake and degradation, and promotes repair following white matter stroke. ABSTRACT White matter stroke (WMS) results

Heuristically Adaptive Diffusion‐Model Evolutionary Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Building on the mathematical equivalence between diffusion models and evolutionary algorithms, researchers demonstrate unprecedented control over evolutionary optimization through conditional diffusion. By training diffusion models to associate parameters with specific traits, they can guide evolution toward solutions exhibiting desired behaviors ...

C⁎-Basic Construction from the Conditional Expectation on the Drinfeld Double

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2019
Let D(G) be the Drinfeld double of a finite group G and D(G;H) be the crossed product of C(G) and CH, where H is a subgroup of G. Then the sets D(G) and D(G;H) can be made C⁎-algebras naturally.

New Lagrange Multipliers for the Blind Adaptive Deconvolution Problem Applicable for the Noisy Case

open access: yesEntropy, 2016
Recently, a new blind adaptive deconvolution algorithm was proposed based on a new closed-form approximated expression for the conditional expectation (the expectation of the source input given the equalized or deconvolutional output) where the output ...

The Mitochondrial Guardian α‐Amyrin Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology via Modulation of the DLK‐SARM1‐ULK1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary habits play a key role in chronic diseases, and higher annual consumption of fruit and vegetable may lower risk of dementia. Artificial intelligence predicts the lipid‐like compound α‐Amyrin (αA) from plants with edible peels as a drug candidate against Alzheimer's disease.

MGM as a Large‐Scale Pretrained Foundation Model for Microbiome Analyses in Diverse Contexts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present the Microbial General Model (MGM), a transformer‐based foundation model pretrained on over 260,000 microbiome samples. MGM learns contextualized microbial representations via self‐supervised language modeling, enabling robust transfer learning, cross‐regional generalization, keystone taxa discovery, and prompt‐guided generation of realistic,

Loss of SOCS1 in Donor T Cells Exacerbates Intestinal GVHD by Driving a Chemokine‐Dependent Pro‐Inflammatory Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell‐specific Socs1 knockout leads to inflammatory differentiation of CD8+ T cells, prompting the STAT1/2 complex to drive the activation of Ccl5, Ccr5, and Cxcr3, and promoting the skewing of monocytes toward a pro‐inflammatory M1 macrophage lineage.

Estimating the Conditional Tail Expectation in the Case of Heavy-Tailed Losses

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2010
The conditional tail expectation (CTE) is an important actuarial risk measure and a useful tool in financial risk assessment. Under the classical assumption that the second moment of the loss variable is finite, the asymptotic normality of the ...
