Principal components analysis on audiograms from a hearing aid clinic [PDF]
In this study we describe a Principal Components Analysis (PCA) of 11,462 audiograms recorded at the hearing aid clinic at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough between 1992 and 2001.

ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...

A New High Gain Active Switched Network-Based Boost Converter for DC Microgrid Application
This paper deals with an active switched inductor network-based high gain boost converter. By using less number of components in circuit topology, a higher gain in voltage can be attained at a small duty cycle value by using the proposed converter, which

Optical frequency waveguide and ion transmission system [PDF]
Electromagnetically generated, high-dielectric tube forms a waveguide which retains the electromagnetic energy within the beam, the trapped beam establishes an optical frequency waveguide appropriate for its own conduction with minimum diffraction ...

Geometry-diversified Coulomb excitations in trilayer AAB stacking graphene
The lower-symmetry trilayer AAB-stacked graphene exhibits rich electronic properties and thus diverse Coulomb excitations. Three pairs of unusual valence and conduction bands create nine available interband excitations for the undoped case, in which the ...

The measurement of very low conductivity and dielectric loss in XLPE cables: A possible method to detect degradation due to thermal aging [PDF]
The dielectric response of crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated, miniature power cables, extruded with inner and outer semicons, was measured over the frequency range 10-4 to 104 Hz at temperatures from 20 to 100 °C.

ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

A two-stage approach to relaxation in billiard systems of locally confined hard spheres
We consider the three-dimensional dynamics of systems of many interacting hard spheres, each individually confined to a dispersive environment, and show that the macroscopic limit of such systems is characterized by a coefficient of heat conduction whose

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.
