Burning characteristics of power cables with cone calorimeter [PDF]
Power cables consist of insulation, padding and sheathing, which are highly susceptible to ignition. Power cables are an important factor affecting fire risk in urban utility tunnels (UUTs).

Fire Behavior of Thermally Thin Materials in Cone Calorimeter. [PDF]
In this study, a representative set of thermally thin materials including various lignocellulosic and synthetic fabrics, dense wood, and polypropylene sheets were tested using a cone calorimeter at different heat fluxes. Time-to-ignition, critical heat flux, and peak of heat release rate (pHRR) were the main parameters considered.

Influence of physical properties on polymer flammability in the cone calorimeter [PDF]
The relationship between physical properties and fire performance as measured in the cone calorimeter is not well understood. A number of studies have identified relationships between the physical and chemical properties of polymeric materials and their gasification behavior which can be determined through numerical pyrolysis models.

The Evaluation of Torrefied Wood Using a Cone Calorimeter. [PDF]
This study focuses on the energy potential and combustion process of torrefied wood. Samples were prepared through the torrefaction of five types of wood: Ash, beech, oak, pine and spruce. These were heated for 2 h at a temperature of 300 °C under a nitrogen atmosphere. Torrefied wood was prepared from wood samples with dimensions of 100 × 100 × 20 mm3.

Testing of liquids with the cone calorimeter
Abstract The cone calorimeter is traditionally used to measure the response of solid materials to radiant heating. Liquids are also commonly tested, but the methods employed are varied and inconsistent. There is a need to understand how the experimental conditions impact test results, and to develop formal guidance on a testing protocol for liquids ...

Improvement of Flame Retardancy of Polyurethane Foam Using DOPO-Immobilized Silica Aerogel
In this work, silica aerogel was modified by 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-1-oxide (DOPO). Then DOPO-immobilized silica aerogel nanoparticles were used as a flame retardant to prepare flame-retardant polyurethane foams.
