Confined Doping on a Metallic Atomic Chain Structure

Physical Review Letters, 2012
On Si(111)-(5×2)-Au it is shown that metallic sections of quantum wires between two doping adatoms establish a local electronic structure which is primarily defined by the section length. Such confined doping is a direct consequence of reduced dimensionality and is not observed in higher dimensions.

The Confined Hydrogen Atom Revisited

2014
After an introduction (Sect. 3.1) and a general overview (Sect. 3.2) of various studies on the confined hydrogen atom, we present, in Sect. 3.3, calculations for the ground state energy and other properties of that atomic system as a function of the box radius by using a variational method and a perturbative approach, where both, electron and nucleus ...

Turbulence and atomic physics in magnetically confined plasmas

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
An overview of issues related to the interplay between atomic process and turbulence in the peripheral regions of magnetically confined fusion devices is presented. Both atomic processes and turbulence play key roles for fusion, but have most of the time been treated separately.

A Study of Confined Helium Atom

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2007
The helium atom confined by a spherical parabolic potential well is studied employing the adiabatic hyperspherical approach method. Total energies of the ground and three low-excited states are obtained as a function of the confined potential radii. We find that the energies of a spherical parabolic potential well are in good agreement with those of an

Spectra of Confined Atoms and Molecules

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003
The properties of spectra of atoms and molecules confined by an external potential are analyzed. The effects of spatial confinement are studied using quantum‐chemical models. The confinement of the system is described by an external one‐particle potential.

Atomic dynamics in confined liquids

Philosophical Magazine B, 1994
Abstract Rather general models are proposed for infinite porous systems with permeable walks, or restrictive connecting channels, at various levels of sophistication from macroscopic, through mixed macroscopic and microscopic, to thoroughly microscopic.

Influence of confinement on atomic and molecular reactivity indicators in DFT

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2008
Spatial confinement of atoms and molecules influences electronic structures, energy spectra, and chemical reactivity. A simple potential barrier approach involving a single parameter is used to study confinement in both atoms and molecules, focusing on the reactivity of the systems through the HOMO-LUMO gap, which is linked to the global chemical ...

Properties of Confined Hydrogen and Helium Atoms

2009
Abstract The energy spectrum and polarizabilities of hydrogen atom confined to a sphere of radius R , are analysed in terms of the numerical approach, model wave functions, and simple analytical expressions, which provide a useful description of these properties.
