Confined Brownian ratchets [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
We analyze the dynamics of Brownian ratchets in a confined environment. The motion of the particles is described by a Fick-Jakobs kinetic equation in which the presence of boundaries is modeled by means of an entropic potential. The cases of a flashing ratchet, a two-state model, and a ratchet under the influence of a temperature gradient are analyzed ...

Confined diffusion

open access: yesIl Nuovo Cimento C, 1991
An equation for the unidimensional confined diffusion is proposed. The equation coincides with the well-known homogeneous equation except the presence of a source term. This term which has the form of a dipole distribution is located on a moving front which sharply separates two distinct regions.

Urban informality and confinement: toward a relational framework [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the 21st century, a growing number of people live ‘informal’ lives within fissures between legality and informality. Concomitantly, power relations are increasingly expressed through devices of confinement.

Multi-Quanta Spin-Locking Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Relaxation Measurements: An Analysis of the Long-Time Dynamical Properties of Ions and Water Molecules Confined within Dense Clay Sediments

open access: yesMagnetochemistry, 2017
Solid/liquid interfaces are exploited in various industrial applications because confinement strongly modifies the physico-chemical properties of bulk fluids.

Validation of the plasma-wall self-organization model for density limit in ECRH-assisted start-up of Ohmic discharges on J-TEXT

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
A recently developed plasma-wall self-organization model (Escande et al 2022 Nucl. Fusion 62 026001) predicts a significantly enhanced density limit, which may be attainable in tokamaks with ECRH-assisted Ohmic start-up and sufficiently high initial ...

Some views on monopoles and confinement [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Aspects of the monopole condensation picture of confinement are discussed. First, the nature of the monopole singularities in the abelian projection approach is analysed.

Progress of the electron cyclotron resonance heating system and the related experiments on J-TEXT [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
To augment the capabilities of the J-TEXT tokamak, efforts were undertaken in 2017 to commence the construction of an electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) system.

Relating Quark Confinement and Chiral Symmetry Breaking in QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We study the relation between quark confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in QCD. Using lattice QCD formalism, we analytically express the various "confinement indicators", such as the Polyakov loop, its fluctuations, the Wilson loop, the inter-quark ...

Confining strings [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1997
We propose a hypothesis that all gauge theories are equivalent to a certain non-standard string theory. Different gauge groups are accounted for by weights ascribed to the world sheets of different topologies. The hypothesis is checked in the case of the compact abelian theories, where we show how condensing monopole -instanton fields are reproduced by
