Defining Roles in Pediatric Palliative Care: Perspectives From Oncology and Palliative Care Teams

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Early integration of pediatric palliative care (PPC) is associated with improved symptom management, quality of life, and healthcare utilization for children with cancer. Despite this, variation persists in how PPC is understood, operationalized, and integrated within pediatric oncology programs. In particular, ambiguity surrounding

Plasma heat load in the toroidal gaps of the ITER-like plasma facing units in WEST tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
The heat load deposited in the toroidal gaps between two tungsten monoblocks remains an open problem to prepare safe and powerful experiments in ITER.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

The effects of partial stable confinement on the voluntary activity of weanling thoroughbred foals : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Animal Science, Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This thesis discusses an observational study, which evaluates the effects of partial stable confinement on the voluntary activity of weanling Thoroughbreds kept at pasture.

Active Matter in Lateral Parabolic Confinement: From Subdiffusion to Superdiffusion

open access: yes, 2016
In this work we studied the diffusive behavior of active brownian particles under lateral parabolic confinement. The results showed that we go from subdiffusion to ballistic motion as we vary the angular noise strength and confinement intensity.

Confining Gauge Fields [PDF]

open access: yesCrossing the Boundaries, 2010
By superposition of regular gauge instantons or merons, ensembles of gauge fields are constructed which describe the confining phase of SU (2) Yang-Mills theory. Various properties of the Wilson loops, the gluon condensate and the topological susceptibility are found to be in qualitative agreement with phenomenology or results of lattice calculations.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Layer-structured Cr/Cr x N coating via electroplating-based nitridation achieving high deuterium resistance as the hydrogen permeation barrier

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics, 2022
Hydrogen isotope permeation through structural materials is a key issue for developing nuclear fusion energy, which will cause fuel loss and radioactive pollution.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Color Confinement and Massive Gluons

open access: yes, 2005
Color confinement is one of the central issues in QCD so that there are various interpretations of this feature. In this paper we have adopted the interpretation that colored particles are not subject to observation just because colored states are ...
