Dividing and setting strategy of improving calculation efficiency for needle electrode corona discharge with a large‐scale space

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2022
Needle electrodes are widely used in the research of corona discharge. Aiming at the problem of needle electrode discharge in a large‐scale space (tens or even hundreds of centimetres), a hybrid model was proposed in the previous work.

Featherweight generic confinement [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Functional Programming, 2006
Existing approaches to object encapsulation either rely on ad hoc syntactic restrictions or require the use of specialised type systems. Syntactic restrictions are difficult to scale and to prove correct, while specialised type systems require extensive changes to programming languages.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Development of the WAter-interface Permeation In Tritium-exposed materIals (Wapiti) tritium experiment and preliminary Eurofer97 results

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
The control of tritium inventory and permeation is crucial for the safe operation of fusion reactors. To measure these phenomena, a novel tritium experiment is introduced and used to measure tritium permeation through Eurofer97 at room temperature, with ...

Experimental and numerical modeling of plasma start-up assisted by electron drift injection on J-TEXT

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Start-up is one of the critical phases for tokamak discharge. The electron drift injection (EDI) system has been developed on J-TEXT for start-up studies.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Confined Elastic Curves [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2011
We consider the problem of minimizing Euler's elastica energy for simple closed curves confined to the unit disk. We approximate a simple closed curve by the zero level set of a function with values +1 on the inside and -1 on the outside of the curve. The outer container now becomes just the domain of the phase field.

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...
