A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Investigating the effect of changing parameters in the IEC device in comparative study
Kinetic simulations have been performed on an Inertial Electrostatic Confinement Fusion (IECF) device. These simulations were performed using the particle-in-cell (PIC) method to analyze the behavior of ions in an IEC device and the effects of some ...

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

Energy-Efficient Semiconductor Optical Amplifier with Longitudinally Varying Confinement Factor
A novel type of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with improved energy-efficiency is presented conceptually and simulated numerically, using parameters based on a well-established heterogeneous photonic integration platform. The SOA has a confinement factor that can be varied by waveguide design only, and thus the gain, loss and saturation can be ...
