Examining Confinement Loss in ANF Fibers

2023 Photonics North (PN), 2023
We design an antiresonant nodeless fiber reducing confinement loss by 9.8 dB/km in C-band and 20.4 dB/km in O-band compared to previous designs. The simpler fiber geometry may offer earlier adoption than ultra-low-loss hollow core fibers.

Use of machine learning to efficiently predict the confinement loss in anti-resonant hollow-core fiber.

Optics Letters, 2021
The fundamental mode confinement loss (CL) of anti-resonant hollow-core fiber (ARF) is efficiently predicted by a classification task of machine learning. The structure-parameter vector is utilized to define the sample space of ARFs.

Study on the high birefringence and low confinement loss terahertz fiber based on the combination of double negative curvature and nested claddings

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2021
A novel double negative curvature nested fiber structure is designed by adding extra circular cladding tubes to enhance the birefringence and reduce the confinement loss.

Circular anti-resonance fibre supporting orbital angular momentum modes with flat dispersion, high purity and low confinement loss

Journal of Modern Optics, 2021
A novel ring anti-resonance fibre (ARF) is designed and demonstrated for the transmission of orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes. The fibre consists of two layers of negative curvature tubes arranged orderly inside and outside the ring region and OAM ...

Confinement loss, including cladding material loss effects, in Bragg fibers

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2011
Confinement loss (CL), including cladding material losses, is comprehensively evaluated for TE, TM, and hybrid modes of hollow-core Bragg fibers. We show that the combined fiber loss tends to approach a loss depending only on CL Lconf for a small number N of cladding pairs, while it approaches a material loss limit value Lmat for large N.

Confinement losses in the birefringent holey fibers

Proceedings of 2004 6th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (IEEE Cat. No.04EX804), 2004
We calculate and compare confinement losses in birefringent holey fibers of four different constructions. The birefringence in the analyzed structures is induced, respectively, by: two large holes adjacent to the fiber core; the elliptical shape of the core composed of double or triple defects in the hexagonal structure; one row of cladding holes with ...

Theoretical analysis of large negative dispersion photonic crystal fiber with small confinement loss.

Applied Optics, 2020
Solid core circular and octagonal photonic crystal fibers (CPCF and OPCF) are proposed for analyzing different guiding properties such as dispersion, effective mode area, nonlinearity, and confinement loss from 0.8 to 2.6 µm wavelength.
