Design of a chemical sensing circular photonic crystal fiber with high relative sensitivity and low confinement loss for terahertz (THz) regime

, 2020
This paper contributes a novel proposal of a chemical sensor (CS) that is based on the elliptical rotated-hexacore photonic crystal fiber (ERH-PCF) for several chemical substances in the terahertz (THz) frequency regime.

Tailoring confinement losses of photonic crystal fibers

2007 Asia Optical Fiber Communication and Optoelectronics Conference, 2007
Confinement losses in photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with different structure are discussed by a full vectorial finite element method. Based on numerical results, confinement losses in high birefringence PCFs and high negative dispersion PCFs are tailored.

Diffraction loss of confined modes in microcavities

1997 Digest of the IEEE/LEOS Summer Topical Meeting: Vertical-Cavity Lasers/Technologies for a Global Information Infrastructure/WDM Components Technology/Advanced Semiconductor Lasers and Applications/Gallium Nitride Materials, Processing, and Devices (C, 2002
In this paper, the loss of a simplified cavity is studied using an accurate numerical model that solves the scalar Helmholtz Equation at each point in the cavity. The idealized cavity geometry consists of two perfect mirrors. The upper mirror is offset inward at some radius as shown, so that the cavity is laterally index guided.

Low confinement loss photonic crystal fibre capable of supporting 54 orbital angular momentum modes

Journal of Modern Optics, 2020
A novel structure photonic crystal fibre (PCF) supporting orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes is proposed. The transmission layer is a ring core with high refractive index, sandwiched between the inner air-hole cladding and the outer cladding composed ...

Confinement Loss of Plasma-filled Microstructure Fiber

International Photonics and Optoelectronics Meetings, 2012
Confinement loss of plasma-filled microstructure fiber was investigated. Optical guiding in the microstructure fiber would be affected by microplasmas at different electron temperatures and electron densities and microplasmas with different gas components.

Confinement Losses in Honeycomb Fibers

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2004
The confinement losses in honeycomb photonic bandgap fibers are numerically investigated by means of the finite element method. Honeycomb fibers with both an extra hole and a low refractive index region as defects are considered. It is shown that by means of a proper design, confinement losses lower than 0.1 dB/km at /spl lambda/=1.55 /spl mu/m can be ...

Confinement loss spectral behavior in hollow-core Bragg fibers

Optics Letters, 2007
The influence of each cross-section geometric parameter on hollow-core Bragg fiber guiding properties has been numerically investigated. Fabricated fibers have been modeled, giving insight into the spectral behavior of the confinement loss. It has been verified that, by changing the amount of silica and air in the fiber cladding, it is possible to ...

Establishment of the confinement loss curve using the tunnel convergence data

, 2020
The confinement loss plays an important role that connects two two-dimensional planes, cross-section, and longitudinal section. In the analysis of cross-section, the two-dimensional plane–strain condition takes into account the behavior of ground–support

Analytical Estimation of Confinement Loss in Tube Lattice Fibers

Advanced Photonics 2018 (BGPP, IPR, NP, NOMA, Sensors, Networks, SPPCom, SOF), 2018
In this work, we propose an analytical formula for estimating confinement loss in Tube Lattice Fibers. The formula is based on a single-tube model and the comparison with numerical simulations of three TLFs designed to work in the UV, NIR, and THz spectral ranges shows good agreement.

Confinement loss in hexagonal lattice photonic crystal fibers

Optik, 2013
Abstract In this paper, confinement loss in hexagonal lattice photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) has been investigated. Using finite difference frequency domain (FDFD) method with perfectly matched layers (PMLs) boundary conditions, the effect of air holes deformation and also changing the design parameters of PCFs on the confinement loss theoretically ...
