Constructing and validating a scale of inquisitive curiosity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We advance the understanding of the philosophy and psychology of curiosity by operationalizing and constructing an empirical measure of Nietzsche’s conception of inquisitive curiosity, expressed by the German term Wissbegier, (“thirst for knowledge” or ...

Counterfeit self: A confirmatory factor analysis among Indonesians [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
It is questionable whether counterfeiting in many areas of life contributes to unethical behavior to a wider extent. If the notion is supported by data, then the moral damage in a society could be prevented by reducing the counterfeit self and behavior ...

Cytosolic‐enhanced dark Epac‐based FRET sensors allow for intracellular cAMP detection in live cells via FLIM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We describe a novel set of Epac‐based FRET‐FLIM biosensors with improved fully cytosolic distribution, achieved without compromising the state‐of‐the‐art performance of our original designs, for detecting cAMP dynamics in real time in live cells with high precision and reliability.

Confirmatory factor analysis of the supports intensity scale for children [PDF]

open access: yesResearch in Developmental Disabilities, 2016
Support needs assessment instruments and recent research related to this construct have been more focused on adults with intellectual disability than on children. However, the design and implementation of Individualized Support Plans (ISP) must start at an early age.

Confirmatory Factor Analysis on Family Communication Patterns Measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Measurement of Family Communication Patterns is widely used to measure the communication in family practice by many researchers. This measurement was developed by McLeod and Chaffee in 1972 and was later revised by Fitzpatrick and Ritchie in 1994. Family

Structural equation modeling and confirmatory factor analysis of social media use and education

open access: yesInternational Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education, 2019
The objective of this study is to design a structural equation model and test confirmatory factor analysis system in order to better explain how students could utilize social networking system (Facebook) for educational purposes.

Diphthamide synthesis is linked to the eEF2‐client chaperone machinery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The diphthamide modification of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 2 (eEF2) is important for accurate protein synthesis. We addressed the potential coordination of de novo eEF2 synthesis with simultaneous or subsequent diphthamide modification. Our work reveals that the co‐chaperones Hgh1 and Cpr7, which are known to support folding of nascent ...

Testing for heterogeneous factor loadings using mixtures of confirmatory factor analysis models

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2010
The current study assessed the viability of mixture confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for measurement invariance testing by evaluating the ability of mixture CFA models to identify differences in factor loadings across populations with identical mean ...

The effect of extreme response and non-extreme response styles on testing measurement invariance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Extreme and non-extreme response styles (RSs) are prevalent in survey research using Likert-type scales. Their effects on measurement invariance (MI) in the context of confirmatory factor analysis are systematically investigated here via a Monte Carlo

The [2Fe‐2S] cluster of mitochondrial outer membrane protein mitoNEET has an O2‐regulated nitric oxide access tunnel

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mitochondrial outer membrane iron–sulphur ([Fe‐S]) protein mitoNEET is a target of the type‐2 diabetes drug pioglitazone. Its unknown molecular function is linked to respiratory complex activity and mitochondrial function. We discovered that O2 protects the mitoNEET [2Fe‐2S] cluster against NO oxidation and desensitization towards reduction by H2S.
