Layer Systems for Proving Confluence

open access: yes, 2015
We introduce layer systems for proving generalizations of the modularity of confluence for first-order rewrite systems. Layer systems specify how terms can be divided into layers. We establish structural conditions on those systems that imply confluence.

On q-summation and confluence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper is divided in two parts. In the first part we consider irregular singular analytic q-difference equations, with q\in ]0,1[, and we show how the Borel sum of a divergent solution of a differential equation can be uniformly approximated on a ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Lateral asymmetry in the hippocampal response to the remoteness of autobiographical memories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The time scale of hippocampal involvement in retrieving memories, particularly those more remote, is still a matter of debate. Some propose that the hippocampus is not involved in the retrieval of remote memories, whereas others assert that it is ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Stacking ensemble machine learning for predicting land surface temperature hotspots using landsat 9 data

open access: yesProceedings of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences
Despite advancements in predictive modeling, existing methods struggle with accuracy and spatial variability in Land Surface Temperature (LST) estimation.

Can Identifying Discrete Behavioral Groups With Individual-Based Acoustic Telemetry Advance the Understanding of Fish Distribution Patterns?

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
Identifying patterns of organismal distribution can provide valuable insights for basic and applied marine and coastal ecology because understanding where animals are located is foundational to both research and science-based conservation.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Exploration of quality groundwater through lineament delineation in Okene and its surroudings

open access: yesGeosystems and Geoenvironment
This research addresses the issue of unproductive boreholes in the study area and the limited information on productive aquifers. The challenging geological terrain and dense urbanization necessitate the use of integrated airborne data, namely Landsat ...
