Confocal‐line microscopy

Journal of Microscopy, 1992
SUMMARYThe confocal‐line (CL) technique combines some of the characteristics of confocal‐scanning microscopy with those of conventional‐imaging methods. It is based on the introduction of line‐shaped illumination and linear image detection, as an alternative to the current confocal‐point (CP) approach.

Reflectance Confocal Microscopy

2015
The ultimate goal of early melanoma diagnosis is the detection of all melanomas, while minimizing the number of excisions of nevi. To achieve this goal requires the clinician to not only be able to identify specific melanoma features but to also recognize the distinct aspects of nevi. To complicate the matter, several pigmented and nonpigmented lesions

Endoscopic confocal microscopy

Current Opinion in Gastroenterology, 2005
Endoscopic confocal microscopy is a new endoscopic imaging technology that produces high-magnification cross-sectional images of the gastrointestinal epithelium during endoscopy. These high-magnification images might allow the endoscopist to make a tissue diagnosis during endoscopy without biopsy and histopathology.

Degenerated confocal resonator

Applied Optics, 1993
The properties of confocal resonators with g(1) = g(2) = 0 and with one mirror confined by an aperture were investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The fundamental mode operation with complete filling of the medium, which ds located near the unconfined mirror, can always be obtained by an appropriate choice of the aperture radius. Numerical

Clinical confocal microscopy

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 1998
Because it provides much higher magnification and better optical sectioning than a slit-lamp biomicroscope, confocal microscopy is ideally suited for clinical imaging of the cornea. One important clinical application of confocal microscopy has been the early detection and diagnosis of a number of infectious conditions, including infection with ...

Modern Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy

Current Protocols in Cytometry, 2018
Since its commercialization in the late 1980's, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) has since become one of the most prevalent fluorescence microscopy techniques for three‐dimensional structural studies of biological cells and tissues.

Confocal image slicer

Applied Optics, 1993
A confocal image slicer for use in high-resolution spectrography in astrophysics is presented. The deviceimproves the light transmission of a high-resolution spectrograph by an (unprecedented) order of magnitude. The production of a prototype is described, and the first astronomical results obtained with the Anglo-Australian Telescope are presented ...

Fluorescence (Multiwave) Confocal Microscopy

Dermatologic Clinics, 2016
In addition to reflectance confocal microscopy, multiwave confocal microscopes with different laser wavelengths in combination with exogenous fluorophores allow fluorescence mode confocal microscopy in vivo and ex vivo. Fluorescence mode confocal microscopy improves the contrast between the epithelium and the surrounding soft tissue and allows the ...

Basic Confocal Microscopy

Current Protocols in Cell Biology, 1997
AbstractThis comprehensive overview unit introduces the reader to confocal microscopy from the basic principles of imaging and optical sectioning, to selection of laser, practical guidelines for fixation, choice of fluorophore, control samples, and mounting the sample. There are also suggestions for optimizing the imaging parameters.

Modern Confocal Microscopy

Current Protocols in Cytometry, 2005
AbstractThis unit re‐examines confocal microscopy from a current perspective. It outlines many of the most modern applications of confocal microscopy and the issues surrounding them. The expanding applications of confocal microscopy demand both minor and major modifications of the technology to enhance imaging capabilities for a growing variety of ...
