High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Laser microtextured titanium implant surfaces reduce in vitro and in situ oral biofilm formation. [PDF]
INTRODUCTION:Micro- or nano-topography can both provide antimicrobial properties and improve osseointegration of dental implant titanium surfaces. Laser treatment is one of the best surface microtexturing techniques. The aim of this study was to evaluate

Chloroplast to chromoplast transition in tomato fruit: spectral confocalmicroscopy analyses of carotenoids and chlorophylls in isolated plastids and time-lapse recording on intact live tissue [PDF]
During evolution, chromoplasts have emerged as plastid structures which accumulate pigments to facilitate flower pollination and seed dispersal of fleshy fruit.

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.

This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Multiscanning mode laser scanning confocal microscopy system
In this paper, a table-top, reflective mode, laser scanning confocal microscopy system that is capable of scanning the target specimen alternately through various scanning devices and methods is proposed. We have developed a laser scanning confocal microscopy system to utilize combinations of various scanning devices and methods and to be able to ...
