Automated Design of Honeycomb Conformal Cooling Channels for Improving Injection Molding Quality
The study of conformal cooling channel usually has adopted two assumptions in model design: the use of (1) a hot runner system and (2) a one-mold-one-cavity design. These assumptions substantially simplify the research.

Dynamic conformal cooling improves injection molding [PDF]
To achieve a certain visual quality or acceptable surface appearance in injection-molded components, a higher mold surface temperature is needed. In order to achieve this, injection molds can be dynamically tempered by integrating an active heating and ...

The conventional cooling process was chosen because of the better estimation of manufacturing times and lower manufacturing costs. One alternative to minimize the decline in quality in plastic products is by using a conformal cooling process.

On the Use of Conformal Cooling in High-Pressure Die-Casting and Semisolid Casting
Today, tool life in high pressure die casting (HPDC) is of growing interest. A common agreement is that die life is primarily decided by the thermal load and temperature gradients in the die materials.

Newton’s Law of Cooling with Generalized Conformable Derivatives [PDF]
In this communication, using a generalized conformable differential operator, a simulation of the well-known Newton’s law of cooling is made. In particular, we use the conformable t1−α, e(1−α)t and non-conformable t−α kernels. The analytical solution for each kernel is given in terms of the conformable order derivative 0<α≤1.

Optimization of the Cooling of a Thermoplastic Injection Mold
In injection molding processes for thermoplastic parts, the polymer solidification phase in the molding cavity has a strong influence on the quality of the shaped parts and also on the process cycle time.

Thermofluid topology optimization for conformal cooling channel design [PDF]
A framework for topology optimization of cooling channels is proposed, which paves the way towards automated design of additively-manufactured cooling channels, required in applications such as the efficient heat management of die casting molds ...
