Conformational factors in cardiac glycoside activity
Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1985Gomphoside, a 5 alpha-H cardiac glycoside isolated from Asclepias fructicosa, has an unique double glycosidic linkage to the aglycon through oxygen atoms at 2 alpha and 3 beta of the steroid. The 3'-axial hydroxyl of its conformationally rigid sugar residue appears to be the functional group responsible for its potent inotropic activity.

Conformation of the propeptide domain of factor IX
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1995The propeptide domain in the precursor forms of blood clotting proteins contains the recognition sequences for gamma-carboxylase. In hemophilia B, several point mutations in this propeptide domain are responsible for the inherited disease. A peptide containing the propeptide sequence of factor IX was synthesized by solid phase methods.

The conformation of a-factor is not influenced by the S-prenylation of Cys12
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991Two-Dimensional NMR was used to examine the solution conformation of the lipopeptide a-factor, YIIKGVFWDPAC (S-farnesyl) OCH3, from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and five analogues containing various S-alkylated cysteines in DMSO-d6. NOESY data, NH temperature coefficients, and 3J alpha NH coupling constants indicate that the a-factor is a ...

[Dosimetric evaluation of conformal radiotherapy: conformity factor].
Cancer radiotherapie : journal de la Societe francaise de radiotherapie oncologique, 2000The aim of three-dimensional conformal therapy (3DCRT) is to treat the Planning Target Volume (PTV) to the prescribed dose while reducing doses to normal tissues and critical structures, in order to increase local control and reduce toxicity. The evaluation tools used for optimizing treatment techniques are three-dimensional visualization of dose ...

Factors Affecting Conformation in Proline-Containing Peptides
Organic Letters, 2003[reaction: see text] NMR was used to study the thermodynamics of the cis --> trans isomerization for prolyl amide bonds in the compounds shown. The magnitude of K(t/c) for C-terminal esters is greater than for the corresponding amides, signifying stronger backbone stereoelectronic effects in esters.
