Global geometric deformations of current algebras as Krichever-Novikov type algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We construct algebraic-geometric families of genus one (i.e. elliptic) current and affine Lie algebras of Krichever-Novikov type. These families deform the classical current, respectively affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras.

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.

Tracking of Brain Tumors using Vision and Neurosonography

open access: yesApplied Bionics and Biomechanics, 2010
We have developed a method to render brain tumours from endoneurosonography. We propose to track an ultrasound probe in successive endoscopic images without relying on an external optic or magnetic tracking system.

Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics and Conformal Field Theory

open access: yes, 2016
We present a model independent, operator algebraic approach to non-equilibrium quantum thermodynamics within the framework of two-dimensional Conformal Field Theory. Two infinite reservoirs in equilibrium at their own temperatures and chemical potentials

Open strings in Lie groups and associative products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Firstly, we generalize a semi-classical limit of open strings on D-branes in group manifolds. The limit gives rise to rigid open strings, whose dynamics can efficiently be described in terms of a matrix algebra.

The Role of Dice in the Emergence of the Probability Calculus

open access: yesInternational Statistical Review, EarlyView.
Summary The early development of the probability calculus was clearly influenced by the roll of dice. However, while dice have been cast since time immemorial, documented calculations on the frequency of various dice throws date back only to the mid‐13th century.

Follow Me Into Math: Near‐Peer Influencers Take the Stage

open access: yesSchool Science and Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Young people like to be entertained, and to entertain others. What if students were to invest enough of their time and effort into learning topics from our mathematics courses to become experts in the eyes of their peers? In this study we positioned college students and high school students as mathematical performers on the stage in front of ...

Efficient Numerical Framework for Geothermal Energy Production Optimization in Fracture‐Controlled Reservoirs

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 98, Issue 6, Page 709-730, June 2026.
We introduce an efficient open‐source numerical framework for the automated search for the placements of injection and production wells in hot fracture‐controlled reservoirs that sustainably optimize geothermal energy production. We model the reservoirs as discrete fracture networks in 3D. The fluid flow and heat transport in the reservoirs are modeled

Calculation for Multidimensional Topological Relations in 3D Cadastre Based on Geometric Algebra

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2019
Maintaining topological consistency is a crucial issue for 3D cadastral modeling as this helps to represent the cadastral boundary clearly and accurately.
