Adult Onset Hirschsprung's Disease With Overlapping Presentation of Sigmoid Volvulus: Two Case Reports With Literature Review at Tikur Ambessa Specialized Hospital, AAU, Ethiopia

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Adult‐onset Hirschsprung's disease (HSD) is uncommon and frequently leads to diagnostic difficulty after infancy. It is a congenital illness that causes intestinal obstruction due to a lack of ganglion cells. Approximately 1 in 5000 live newborns have this illness, and 95% of HSD cases are identified in infants.

Reevaluating the rule of two's: Age and epidemiological variations in Meckel's diverticulum

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Volume 83, Issue 4, Page 658-664, October 2026.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical characteristics, diagnostic modalities, and age‐related variation of Meckel's diverticulum (MD) using data from a nationwide pediatric inpatient database and a single‐center institutional cohort. Methods The Kids' Inpatient Database (KID) for 2016 and 2019 was queried for patients with a principal diagnosis ...

Investigation of the Mechanism of Cinnamaldehyde in Irritable Bowel Syndrome Based via Network Pharmacology, Molecular Docking, and Animal Experiments

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
Through network pharmacology and molecular docking, it has been discovered that CA can target MAOB, among other proteins, to exert a therapeutic effect in IBS. In vivo, CA lowered visceral hypersensitivity, anxiety and depression‐like behaviors, and fecal water content, highlighting its therapeutic potential for IBS via anti‐inflammatory pathways ...

Connective tissue and genetics in the pathogenesis of rectal prolapse: A scoping review

open access: yesColorectal Disease, Volume 28, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Aim Rectal prolapse can occur in individuals who lack the established risk factors (constipation, obstetric trauma and advanced age). A recognised association with hereditary connective tissue diseases may indicate a role for variants in connective tissue‐related genes in the pathogenesis of the disease.

Computed tomographic Characteristics of Presumed Normal Canine Iliosacral Lymph Nodes

open access: yesVeterinary Radiology &Ultrasound, Volume 67, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Computed tomographic (CT) evaluation of medial iliac (MILN), internal iliac (IILN), and sacral (SLN) lymph nodes (LNs) in dogs provides vital staging information in certain neoplastic conditions. This retrospective study aimed to determine minimum transverse diameter (MinTD) and maximum transverse diameter (MaxTD) values for presumed normal ...

Eyes Toward the Clinic: Selective Inhibition and Degradation Approaches to Bromodomain‐Containing Proteins

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
The function of bromodomain‐containing proteins in regulating gene transcription is reviewed here, including the development of chemical probes and targeted protein degradation modalities (e.g., PROTACs). This extends to clinical efforts targeting the BET bromodomain‐containing proteins. Challenges of selectivity, future prospects, and the differential

Essential embryology for the Canadian pathologists’ assistant

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, Volume 19, Issue 7, Page 1134-1156, July 2026.
Abstract Pathologists' assistants (PAs) are pivotal in healthcare, conducting autopsies and examining tissues under a pathologist's guidance. Embryology knowledge is crucial for PAs to accurately assess anomalies and identify pathologies. Yet, it is often overlooked in academic PA training programs.

Recognition to repair: Managing reservoir complications in inflatable penile prosthesis surgery

open access: yesBJUI Compass, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Introduction Reservoir placement during three‐piece inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) implantation is the step most commonly associated with serious intraoperative complications. The reservoir is traditionally positioned within the space of Retzius, where it lies in close proximity to the bladder, bowel and major pelvic vessels.
