Congenital Tremor in Pigs Farrowed from Sows Given Hog Cholera Virus During Pregnancy
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1981SUMMARY At different stages of gestation, 3 groups of pregnant sows were inoculated with a strain of hog cholera virus (hcv). After the infection, clinical signs of hog cholera were not observed in the sows. Pigs from the sows infected on day 22 or 43 of gestation showed varying degrees of muscular tremor, ataxia, splayleg, and suckling inability.

[Congenital tremor in piglets].
Veterinarno-meditsinski nauki, 1982One of the forms of congenital myoclonia in pigs is described for the first time. Epizootologic, clinical, and morphological studies on the syndrome have been carried out, and a description of the clinical, morphologic, and histopathological findings are given.

[Metrifonate-induced congenital tremor in piglets].
Veterinarno-meditsinski nauki, 1982Congenital tremor was experimentally induced in pigs. Eight sows of the Comborough breed that had farrowed for the first time were used, having a good body condition and a liveweight of 115 to 120 kg. Other 96 sows of the same breed and body weight were used as controls.

Ultrastructural Observations on the Spinal Cords of Piglets Affected with Congenital Tremor Type AIV
Research in Veterinary Science, 1974The ultrastructural appearance of the spinal cord of 3 piglets affected with congenital tremor type AIV was examined and compared with normal litter mates. In affected pigs some axons, of all diameters, were unmyelinated and the myelin sheaths of the remainder were much thinner than normal.

Evidence of porcine circovirus-like virus P1 in piglets with an unusual congenital tremor
Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2017Outbreaks of trembling and shaking were reported among pigs at two pig farms in Jiangsu Province, China. Serum and tissue samples tested positive for porcine circovirus-like virus P1 and negative for classical swine fever virus, porcine circovirus type 2, astrovirus and porcine pestivirus using PCR/RT-PCR and immunohistochemical techniques.

Veterinary Record, 2009
This paper presents data from 23 British herds investigated between 1991 and 2007 where neurological disease in calves was caused by bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) infection. A variety of clinical signs, most commonly tremor or trembling, were apparent in the calves from birth, and most were recumbent or unable to stand unsupported. Severe diffuse

Congenital tremor in pigs in Sweden. A case report.
Nordisk veterinaermedicin, 1979The authors describe an outbreak of congenital tremor in piglets in a herd for the integrated production of fattening pigs. All sows farrowing within a period of slightly over a month gave birth to piglets affected to a varying degree. All the sows were of the Swedish Land Race and covered by boars representing two different lines not genetically ...

Ultrastructural Observations on the Spinal Cord of a Landrace Pig with Congenital Tremor Type AIII
Research in Veterinary Science, 1974The ultrastructural appearance of the spinal cord of a Landrace piglet with a sex-linked abnormality of myelination (congenital tremor type AIII) was examined and compared with a clinically normal litter mate. The white matter of the former contained some myelinated axons and a large number of unmyelinated axons.

Porcine circovirus type 2 expression in the brain of neonatal piglets with congenital tremor
Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2016The present study demonstrates the presence of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) antigen in the brains of neonatal piglets with congenital tremor. Piglets with clinical signs of congenital tremor were collected from a commercial swine herd for post-mortem examination.

Tremor is a continuous, repetitive twitching of skeletal muscles, which is usually visible and palpable. Repeated birth of lambs with neurological disorders in a herd of the region in Northwest of Kerman province of Iran was the reason for careful examination one of the patients.
