Evaluation of traffic management strategies for special events using probe data

open access: yesTransportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives, 2019
Special events can impose burdens to local roads. As these events are temporary and even seasonal in nature, concerned agencies need to identify cost-effective traffic management strategies to control this increased traffic.

Strengthening urban resilience in China through underground infrastructures management: Addressing global climate challenges with technological solutions

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper explores how climate‐resilient technologies, such as smart grids, digital twins, and self‐healing materials, can enhance urban resilience. It highlights the urgent need for proactive planning, public‐private collaboration, and data‐driven innovation to future‐proof underground infrastructure amid accelerating climate and urban pressures ...

Governing Positive Energy Districts: The Role of Legitimation and Identity Across Residential and Industrial Contexts

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Increasing electricity demand from data centres, industrial applications, electric vehicles and domestic heating is creating pressure to develop electricity systems in many parts of the world, but especially in Western countries. In response to challenges such as grid congestion, interconnection queues and climate‐related hazards, network ...

Altruism in Atomic Congestion Games

open access: yesACM Transactions on Economics and Computation, 2009
This article studies the effects of altruism, a phenomenon widely observed in practice, in the model of atomic congestion games. Altruistic behavior is modeled by a linear trade-off between selfish and social objectives. Our model can be embedded in the framework of congestion games with player-specific latency functions.

Collective Decision‐Making and Institutional Configurations in Polycentric Environmental Governance

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Why do formally similar multi‐level governance arrangements produce different governance outcomes in urban climate and transport policy? This article examines variation in governance performance across three metropolitan regions in Norway operating under the national Urban Growth Agreement (UGA) framework and pursuing the shared objective of ...

L’Union de l’énergie à la recherche d’une maille optimale : le modèle d’espace énergétique européen entre découpages et intégration

open access: yesL'Espace Politique, 2020
The European Union seeks to build an integrated energy area. Begun with the desire to create a common market, this integration was then fleshed out with e.g. security of supply and energy transition.

Parallel computing as a congestion game

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
Game-theoretical approach to the analysis of parallel algorithms is proposed. The approach is based on presentation of the parallel computing as a congestion game. In the game processes compete for resources such as core of a central processing unit and a communication subsystem.

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1059-1080, April 2025.
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

Taxes for Linear Atomic Congestion Games [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Algorithms, 2006
We study congestion games where players aim to access a set of resources. Each player has a set of possible strategies and each resource has a function associating the latency it incurs to the players using it. Players are non--cooperative and each wishes to follow a strategy that minimizes her own latency with no regard to the global optimum. Previous

The effects of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on the ‘forgotten’ right ventricle

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1045-1058, April 2025.
Abstract With the progress in diagnosis, treatment and imaging techniques, there is a growing recognition that impaired right ventricular (RV) function profoundly affects the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), irrespective of their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).
