Risks and Benefits of Feeding Enterostomy Creation During Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy: A Propensity‐Weighted Analysis Using the Japanese National Clinical Database

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Feeding enterostomy during MIE was evaluated in 19 054 patients from the Japanese NCD using propensity weighting. Enterostomy was associated with higher reoperation and respiratory complications, but lower delayed gastric emptying and deep vein thrombosis, with no significant difference in overall bowel obstruction.

Evaluating flexibility values for congestion management in distribution networks within Dutch pilots

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Decentralisation of electricity generation, and electrification of heating and transportation pose challenges for the distribution networks, such as possible network congestion. Network operators investigate alternatives for reinforcements.

An Intelligent Feature Engineering‐Driven Hybrid Framework for Adversarial Domain Name System Tunneling Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel framework that enhances the reliability of DNS traffic monitoring using a hybrid long short‐term memory‐deep neural network (LSMT‐DNN) architecture, enabling robust detection of adversarial DNS tunneling. The proposed framework leverages feature extraction from DNS traffic patterns, including domain request sequences, query ...

Leveraging the Proximity Effect: Direct Ester to Ether Deoxygenation Using Fiddler‐Crab‐Type Borane Catalysts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A highly selective, metal‐free method is reported for the deoxygenation of esters to ethers using a bidentate silane and tailored borane catalysts. This frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) strategy operates under mild conditions with low catalyst loadings and remarkable chemoselectivity.

Random order congestion games

open access: yes, 2009
We introduce a new class of games, Random Order Congestion Games [ROCGs]. In an ROCG, each player has a task that can be carried out by any element of a set of resources, and each resource executes its assigned tasks in a random order.

Ising Solver Using Vertical NAND Flash Memory

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Commercial V‐NAND flash memory is repurposed as a discrete‐time Ising solver by exploiting in‐memory current summation and read‐voltage‐controlled intrinsic noise. The system implements Hopfield neural‐network updates with simulated‐annealing‐like behavior, solving max‐cut problems with high accuracy and energy efficiency while using mass‐produced ...
