The Dentition of the Aurignacian Mandible Les Rois 2, France: New Data and Taxonomic Reassessment

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 191, Issue 1, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study provides new dental phenotypic data on the Aurignacian mandible Les Rois 2 (southwestern France). A former study of its dental morphology concluded that its taxonomic assignment to either Homo sapiens or Homo neanderthalensis was “uncertain” and could reflect a recent Neanderthal ancestry of this specimen.

Sharks of the order Carcharhiniformes from the British Coniacian, Santonian and Campanian (Upper Cretaceous). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Bulk sampling of phosphate-rich horizons within the British Coniacian to Campanian (Upper Cretaceous) yielded very large samples of shark and ray teeth.

Upper Cretaceous rhyolitic ashes in the Utes Derevyannykh Gor area (Novaya Sibir Island, the New Siberian Islands)

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Engineering Research, 2019
The article is concerned with the first finds of rhyolite ashes in Upper Cretaceous sediments of Novaya Sibir Island. In the course of the field work in the area of cape Utes Derevyannykh Gor in 2016, four layers of unlithified fine-grained ashes were ...

New data on the Lamut Suite age (the Algan mountains, the north-western part of the Koryak Highland) [PDF]

open access: yesВестник Камчатской региональной ассоциации "Учебно-научный центр". Серия: Науки о Земле, 2018
This article presents new data obtained during the study of radiolarians and U-Pb dating of clastic zircons from sections of the Lamut suite, located in the upstream of the Oltyan River and the northern branch of Mount Pik (the Algan Mountains).

Flexural bulges and foredeep basins: Dynamic tectonic control on shifting depocentres and condensed facies, Upper Cretaceous (Santonian), Western Canada Foreland Basin

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 4, September 2026.
Allostratigraphically defined mudstone packages show marked along‐strike thickness variation, interpreted to be related to shifting thrust activity in the orogen; loading cycles lasted about 750 kyr. Close to the orogen, the forebulge is mantled by shelly sandstone whereas far from the orogen, the forebulge is typified by organic‐rich mudstone ...

A first high-resolution carbon isotope stratigraphy from the Boreal (NW Germany) for the Berriasian to Coniacian interval—implications for the timing of the Aptian–Albian boundary

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
High-amplitude changes in sedimentary δ13C characterize the Cretaceous system and have been proven useful for supra-regional chemostratigraphic correlation.

Detrital zircon ages, Lu‐Hf isotopes of zircon grains, Sr‐Nd isotopes on whole rock and geochemistry of Campanian turbidites in the Eastern Pontides (NE Türkiye): A provenance assessment and Gondwana records

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 4, September 2026.
These findings confirm that the Campanian‐aged Bozbent Member turbiditic sequence in the Eastern Pontides was deposited in an extensional fore‐arc basin and therefore exhibits the petrographic and geochemical characteristics of passive margin sandstones.

Exhumed eo‐Alpine High‐Pressure Rocks Fed Campanian Turbidites in Eastern Sardinia

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the detrital record of the early orogenic evolution of the Sardinia‐Calabria system, preserved in Upper Cretaceous arenites exposed in eastern Sardinia. Sardinia and Corsica form a continental block that includes a segment of the Alpine orogen and of its former foreland basin.

THE FIRST RECORD OF A NOTOSUCHIAN CROCODYLIFORM FROM ITALY

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2011
A serrated tooth from the Coniacian-Santonian (Upper Cretaceous) Polazzo fossil site (Karst, NE Italy) is the first record of a notosuchian crocodyliform from Italy.
