Departure from the conical dispersion in epitaxial graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The pi bands of epitaxially grown graphene are studied by using high resolution angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Clear deviations from the conical dispersion expected for massless Dirac fermions and an anomalous increase of the scattering rate ...

The Exact Wavefunction Factorization of a Vibronic Coupling System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the exact wavefunction as a single product of electronic and nuclear wavefunction for a model conical intersection system. Exact factorized spiky potentials and nodeless nuclear wavefunctions are found.

Free Vibration for Twisted Thin Conical Shell Panels.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1999
A numerical method for analyzing free vibrations of twisted thin conical shell panels is presented based on the Rayleight-Ritz procedure. To this end, exact strain-displacement relationships are derived by employing the thin shell theory and the principle of virtual work for free vibrations is formulated.

Launching of Conical Winds and Axial Jets from the Disk-Magnetosphere Boundary: Axisymmetric and 3D Simulations

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate the launching of outflows from the disk-magnetosphere boundary of slowly and rapidly rotating magnetized stars using axisymmetric and exploratory 3D magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations. We find long-lasting outflows in both cases. (1) In

Spin-flipping with Holmium: Case study of proximity effect in superconductor/ferromagnet/superconductor heterostructures

open access: yes, 2014
Superconductor/ferromagnet/superconductor heterostructures exhibit a so-called long-range proximity effect provided some layers of conical magnet Holmium are included in the respective interface regions.

Estimation of compressive response of egg-box panel and its designing to reduce the load fluctuation

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
In this paper, the compressive response of an egg-box panel was investigated using a nonlinear FE analysis. The egg-box panel was based on spherical shells and frusta, and its compressive response was predicted by considering the theoretical compressive ...

Tidal inertial waves in the differentially rotating convective envelopes of low-mass stars - I. Free oscillation modes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Star-planet tidal interactions may result in the excitation of inertial waves in the convective region of stars. In low-mass stars, their dissipation plays a prominent role in the long-term orbital evolution of short-period planets.
