Conidiobolus coronatus infection treated with ketoconazole.

We describe a case of subcutaneous zygomycosis caused by Conidiobolus coronatus of six years' duration. Following treatment failure using potassium iodide, the patient responded with ketoconazole therapy. She remained well three years following therapy.

A New Thermophilic Species of Conidiobolus from India

A Conidiobolus isolate growing optimally at 40 degrees C was isolated from decomposing leaf litter and has been designated as a new species, Conidiobolus thermophilus. Colony growth, conidial discharge and smooth zygospore formation was rapid at 40 degrees C, while comparative growth at 35 and 45 degrees C was slower.

Ovine nasal zygomycosis caused by Conidiobolus incongruus

SUMMARY: About 700 sheep died on 52 farms in north‐western New South Wales and south‐western Queensland over a 3 mo period. Affected animals had a marked asymmetrical swelling of the face, extending from the nostril to just anterior to the eyes. They lost condition rapidly and died within 7 to 10 days.

L'examen histo‐pathologique a révélé une inflammation pyogranulomateuse du derme et du tissu sous‐cutané avec de larges hyphes fongiques.

En milieu gelose, l'hyphe a une croissance lineaire mais le nombre d'apex augmente de facon exponentielle au cours du developpement; en consequence, la croissance ponderale globale est exponentielle mais le taux de croissance est faible.
