Theoretical Study on the Mechanisms, Kinetics, and Toxicity Evaluation of OH-Initiated Atmospheric Oxidation Reactions of Coniferyl Alcohol

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
In this paper, we investigated the mechanisms, kinetics, and toxicity evaluation of the OH-initiated reaction of coniferyl alcohol (4-(3-hydroxy-1-propenyl)-2-methoxyphenol) in the atmosphere using theoretical calculations.

Biosynthesis of tetrahydrobenzofuran neolignans in somatic embryos of Ocotea catharinensis

open access: yesEclética Química, 2022
Somatic embryos of Ocotea catharinensis were used as a model to investigate the biosynthetic pathway of tetrahydrobenzofuran neolignan formation by means of feeding 13C-labelled precursors followed by analysis using MS and 13C NMR. Isotopomers of L-[13C]-

Synthesis of highly deuterated coniferyl alcohol for silencing of NMR signals in the resulting dehydrogenative polymer

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 2022
To establish a facile methodology for the elucidation of the lignin chain-growth mechanism, the preparation of monolignol that does not show NMR signals in the dehydrogenative polymer (DHP) was attempted.

Coniferyl alcohol from newsprint burning [PDF]

open access: yesNordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal, 2000
Coniferyl alcohol constitutes almost half of the amount of methoxyphenols in smoke from choked burning of newsprint produced from thermomechanical pulp. The results indicate that coniferyl alcohol is a key component not only in biosynthesis but also in thermal decomposition of lignin.

Promotion of mammalian angiogenesis by neolignans derived from soybean extracellular fluids. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Excessive or insufficient angiogenesis is associated with major classes of chronic disease. Although less studied, small molecules which can promote angiogenesis are being sought as potential therapeutics for cardiovascular and peripheral arterial ...

Enzymatic Preparation and Characterization of Spherical Microparticles Composed of Artificial Lignin and TEMPO-Oxidized Cellulose Nanofiber

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
A one-pot and one-step enzymatic synthesis of submicron-order spherical microparticles composed of dehydrogenative polymers (DHPs) of coniferyl alcohol as a typical lignin precursor and TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCNFs) was investigated ...

Transcriptomic, Proteomic, and Metabolic Profiles of Catalpa bungei Tension Wood Reveal New Insight Into Lignin Biosynthesis Involving Transcription Factor Regulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Lignin is a complex polymer in plant cell walls whose proportion is second only to that of cellulose and plays an important role in the mechanical properties of wood and stress resistance of plants. Here, we induced tension wood (TW) formation in Catalpa

Ultrasound-assisted extraction of hemicellulose and phenolic compounds from bamboo bast fiber powder. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Ultrasound-assisted extraction of hemicellulose and phenolic compounds from bamboo bast fibre powder was investigated. The effect of ultrasonic probe depth and power input parameters on the type and amount of products extracted was assessed.

Spectroscopic Analyses of the Biofuels-Critical Phytochemical Coniferyl Alcohol and Its Enzyme-Catalyzed Oxidation Products

open access: yesMolecules, 2009
Lignin composition (monolignol types of coniferyl, sinapyl or p-coumaryl alcohol) is causally related to biomass recalcitrance. We describe multiwavelength (220, 228, 240, 250, 260, 290, 295, 300, 310 or 320 nm) absorption spectroscopy of coniferyl ...
