Vanishing pairs of conjugacy classes for the symmetric group
In this paper, we classify pairs of conjugacy classes of the symmetric group such that any nonlinear irreducible character of the symmetric group vanishes on at least one of them.

Large N and large representations of Schur line defect correlators
We study the large N and large representation limits of the Schur line defect correlators of the Wilson line operators transforming in the (anti)symmetric, hook and rectangular representations for š© = 4 U(N) super Yang-Mills theory.

Elliptic Weyl group elements and unipotent isometries with p=2
Let G be a classical group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2 and let C be an elliptic conjugacy class in the Weyl group. In a previous paper the first named author associated to C a unipotent conjugacy class \Phi(C) in G.

NEW REDUCTIONS AND LOGARITHMIC LOWER BOUNDS FOR THE NUMBER OF CONJUGACY CLASSES IN FINITE GROUPS [PDF]
AbstractThe unsolved problem of whether there exists a positive constant $c$ such that the number $k(G)$ of conjugacy classes in any finite group $G$ satisfies $k(G) \geq c \log _{2}|G|$ has attracted attention for many years. Deriving bounds on $k(G)$ from (that is, reducing the problem to) lower bounds on $k(N)$ and $k(G/N)$, $N\trianglelefteq G ...

A twisted Burnside theorem for countable groups and Reidemeister numbers
The purpose of the present paper is to prove for finitely generated groups of type I the following conjecture of A.Fel'shtyn and R.Hill, which is a generalization of the classical Burnside theorem.
