Product of Conjugacy Classes of the Alternating Group An
For a nonempty subset X of a group G and a positive integer m , the product of X , denoted by Xm ,is the set Xm = That is , Xm is the subset of G formed by considering all possible ordered products of m elements form X.

Two-groups with few conjugacy classes
An old question of Brauer asking how fast numbers of conjugacy classes grow is investigated by considering the least number cn of conjugacy classes in a group of order 2n. The numbers cn are computed for n ≤ 14 and a lower bound is given for c15.

Automorphisms and twisted vertex operators [PDF]
This work is an examination of various aspects of twisted vertex operator representations of Kac-Moody algebras. It starts with an introduction to Kac-Moody algebras and string theories, including a discussion of the propagation of strings on orbifolds ...

On products of conjugacy classes of the symmetric group
This paper is devoted to the derivation of combinatorial rules for the problem mentioned in the title, and in particular to the decomposition of the product of the class of cycles of length n in \(S_ n\) with itself. It uses the standard methods, i.e. hook characters and expressions of their values in terms of binomial coefficients.

On structural aspects of finite simple groups of Lie type
PhDIn this PhD thesis, we consider two problems that are related to finite simple groups of Lie type. First of them is a problem mentioned in the Kourovka notebook: describe the finite simple groups in which every element is a product of two ...

Conjugacy classes and graphs of two-groups of nilpotency class two [PDF]
Two elements a and b of a group are called conjugate if there exists an element g in the group such that gag??1 = b: The set of all conjugates in a group forms the conjugacy classes of the group.

Combinatorics of conjugacy classes in U_n(F_q) [PDF]
A classical conjecture of Graham Higman states that the number of conjugacy classes in U_n(q), the group of upper triangular (nxn)-matrices over F_q, is a polynomial function of q, for all n.
