Sufficient descent nonlinear conjugate gradient methods with conjugacy condition

Numerical Algorithms, 2009
The authors consider unconstrained optimization problems with a continuously differentiable objective function \(f: \mathbb{R}^n\to\mathbb{R}\). A class of modified conjugate gradient methods is proposed for solving the problems. The methods in this class have a common property that the direction \(d_k\) generated at iteration \(k\) and corresponding ...

Covering relations and Lyapunov condition for topological conjugacy

Dynamical Systems, 2015
In this paper, we study stability of non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems. For a two-sided non-autonomous systems with covering relations determined by a transition matrix A, we show that any small C0 perturbed system has a sequence of compact invariant sets restricted to which the system is topologically semi-conjugate to σA, the two-sided ...

Condition of conjugacy of WCG-spaces

Mathematical Notes of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1978
It is proved that a WCG-space E is conjugate to a Banach space if and only if its conjugate space E′ contains a norm-closed total subspace M, consisting of functionals which attain supremum on the unit sphere. Moreover, M′ = E in the duality established between E and E′.

A New Perry Conjugate Gradient Method with the Generalized Conjugacy Condition

2010 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Software Engineering, 2010
The Perry conjugate gradient method is generalized, from which a new descent algorithm, PDCGy, is presented and its global convergence is proven under Wolfe line searches. Preliminary numerical results for a set of 720 unconstrained optimization test problems verify the performance of the algorithm and show that the PDCGy algorithm is competitive with ...

Necessary and sufficient conditions for the conjugacy of Smale regular homeomorphisms

Sbornik: Mathematics, 2021
Abstract The class of Smale regular homeomorphisms of closed topological manifolds, with nonwandering set consisting of a finite number of periodic orbits of hyperbolic type, is considered. This class contains the Morse-Smale diffeomorphisms of smooth closed manifolds.

An improved spectral CG method based on Dai–Liao conjugacy condition and quasi-Newton direction

Optimization Methods and Software
In this article, with a convex combination of two conjugate gradient (CG) parameters, a novel improved CG parameter is introduced that leads to a new CG method with more appropriate theoretical and computational properties.
