Immunogenicity and Efficacy of Different Haemophilus influenzae type b Vaccines

open access: yesArchives of Razi Institute, 2014
Haemophilus influenzae, a major cause of meningitis in young children leading to death and other neurological sequelae. The disease leaves 15 to 35% of the survivors with permanent disabilities, such as, mental retardation or deafness.

Use of Cyclodextrins in Anticancer Photodynamic Therapy Treatment

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is mainly used to destroy cancerous cells; it combines the action of three components: a photoactivatable molecule or photosensitizer (PS), the light of an appropriate wavelength, and naturally occurring molecular oxygen. After

Asymptotically Hyperbolic Manifolds with Boundary Conjugate Points but no Interior Conjugate Points [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We construct non-trapping asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds with boundary conjugate points but no interior conjugate points.

K-Conjugated Dibenzoazahexacenes [PDF]

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2016
The synthesis and properties of two highly stable K-conjugated dibenzoazahexacenes are reported. Single-crystal X-ray, optoelectronic, and electrochemical characterization combined with theoretical studies show a favorable molecular packing and an optimal energy alignment of their frontier orbitals for charge transport.

The multiple roles of the NlpC_P60 peptidase family in mycobacteria – an underexplored target for antimicrobial drug discovery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

The regio-selective synthesis of 10-hydroxy camptothecin norcantharidin conjugates and their biological activity evaluation in vitro [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2018
A series of conjugates of 10-hydroxy camptothecin (HCPT) with functionalized norcantharidin derivatives were regio-selectively synthesized in the condition of (3-dimethylaminopropyl) ethyl-carbodiimide monohydrochloride in a moderate yield.

Conjugate points in Euler's elastic problem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
For the classical Euler's elastic problem, conjugate points are described. Inflectional elasticae admit the first conjugate point between the first and the third inflection points. All the rest elasticae do not have conjugate points.

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

Conjugate Codes and Applications to Cryptography [PDF]

open access: yesTamagawa University Research Review, No. 12, pp. 19--25, 2006, 2006
A conjugate code pair is defined as a pair of linear codes such that one contains the dual of the other. The conjugate code pair represents the essential structure of the corresponding Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) quantum code. It is argued that conjugate code pairs are applicable to quantum cryptography in order to motivate studies on conjugate code ...

The solution supramolecular structure of α2 → 8 polysialic acid suggests a structural cause for its low immunogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
α2 → 8 polysialic acid elicits poor immunogenicity. Small‐angle scattering shows a supramolecular structure with parallel‐chain binding, although in different forms at μm and mm calcium. The major histocompatibility complex requires molecular weights around 2000 Da to produce antibodies, and 2000 Da polysialic oligomers will bind in these structures ...
