GLOBAL CONVERGENCE OF SHORTEST-RESIDUAL FAMILY OF CONJUGATE GRADIENT METHODS WITHOUT LINE SEARCH [PDF]

open access: possibleAsia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research, 2005
The shortest-residual family of conjugate gradient methods was first proposed by Hestenes and was studied by Pytlak, and Dai and Yuan. Recently, a no-line-search scheme in conjugate gradient methods was given by Sun and Zhang, and Chen and Sun. In this paper, we show the global convergence of two shortest-residual conjugate gradient methods (FRSR and ...

Preconditioned conjugate residual methods for the solution of spectral equations

Computers & Fluids, 1986
The authors consider an iterative procedure for solving a system of linear equations \(A\phi =f\), where A is an ill-conditioned full real matrix with positive definite symmetric part. Such systems arise when the spectral method is applied for discretizing a selfadjoint elliptic partial differential equation.

One-Step Leapfrog ADI-FDTD Method Using the Complex-Conjugate Pole-Residue Pairs Dispersion Model

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2018
A novel one-step leapfrog alternating-direction-implicit finite-difference time-domain method for the modeling of dispersive media described by the complex-conjugate pole-residue pairs model is proposed. The efficiency of the technique is demonstrated in benchmark numerical examples. ? 2018 IEEE.

Finite element solution of three‐dimensional incompressible fluid flow problems by a preconditioned conjugate residual method

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1987
AbstractA new algorithm for the solution of the three‐dimensional Navier–Stokes equation using the mixed formulation and an incomplete factorization technique is presented. The linear system obtained at each modified Newton–Raphson iteration is solved by the preconditioned conjugate residual method (PCR) using an out‐of‐core incomplete LU factorization

Model dispersive media in finite-difference time-domain method with complex-conjugate pole-residue pairs

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2006
In this letter, we show that both Debye poles and Lorentz pole pairs are special cases of complex-conjugate pole-residue pairs, and the general form of such pairs is in fact far more efficient than the commonly used Debye poles and Lorentz pole pairs for modeling real dispersive media with the finite-difference time-domain method.

Complex-conjugate Pole-residue Pair-Based FDTD Method for Assessing Ultrafast Transient Plasmonic Near Field

Plasmonics, 2019
The study of the optical properties of plasmonic nanostructures in the stationary regime has greatly benefited from the development of numerical methods, among which Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) is popular. In contrast, the use of these numerical tools for assessing the transient plasmonic optical response triggered by ultrashort laser pulses ...
