Measurements of exciton diffusion in conjugated polymers

open access: yes, 2009
The exciton diffusion length, which is the distance an exciton can diffuse in its lifetime, is an important parameter that has a critical impact on the operation of many organic optoelectronic devices, including organic solar cells, light emitting diodes

2D Conjugated Polymers: Exploiting Topological Properties for the Rational Design of Metal-Free Photocatalysts

open access: yes, 2022
Solar-to-hydrogen conversion is one of the most promising avenues to provide emission-free fuels and long-term chemical energy storage. Wide-range application crucially requires high-performance photocatalysts that are environmentally benign and free of ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Solid state optical conjugated polymer amplifier; with ultrafast gain switching

open access: yes, 2008
Conjugated polymers are organic materials which are attractive as optoelectronic devices because they have a combination of broad band emission, high gain, versatility in processing, are ductile and can be electrically pumped.

Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution from Water Using Heterocyclic Conjugated Microporous Polymers: Porous or Non-Porous?

open access: yes, 2018
Three series of conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) were studied as photocatalysts for producing hydrogen from water using a sacrificial hole-scavenger. In all cases, dibenzo[b,d]thiophene sulfone polymers outperformed their fluorene analogs. A porous

Luminescent sp2Carbon-Linked 2D Conjugated Polymers with High Photostability

open access: yes, 2020
Luminescent organic materials with high photostability are essential in optoelectronics, sensor, and photocatalysis applications. However, small organic molecules are generally sensitive to UV irradiation, giving rise to chemical decompositions.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Identification of excited states in conjugated polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This thesis reports quasi steady state photoinduced absorption measurements from three conjugated polymers: polypyridine (PPy), polyfluorene (PFO) and the emeraldine base (EB) form of polyaniline.

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.
