Antimicrobial Peptide–Polymer Conjugates
The global health threat imposed by the fast spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria is directing research not only towards the discovery of new antibacterial molecules but also to the repurposing of old drugs, while improving their efficiency and safety [...]

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Investigations into the synthesis, characterisation and properties of some conjugated organic polymers [PDF]
This thesis describes some work directed to the synthesis and attempted synthesis of some conjugated organic polymers. Chapter I provides a general review of the field of conjugated polymers, including their synthesis and interesting physical properties.

Transforming protein-polymer conjugate purification by tuning protein solubility
Therapeutic proteins are often conjugated with polymers, but separating the conjugate from unconjugated protein and free polymer is a major challenge.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Light-emission from conjugated dendrimers and polymers [PDF]
This thesis reports the photophysical and electroluminescence studies undertaken on two types of material: polymeric and dendritic. The dendritic architecture is a recent concept adopted to develop new materials for light-emitting diodes.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

High-mobility, trap-free charge transport in conjugated polymer diodes
Charge transport in organic diodes based on conjugated polymers is severely limited by the high water-related trap concentration and energetic disorder. Here, the authors report high-mobility trap-free charge transport in low-disorder conjugated polymers

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.
