Current Concepts in the Management of Conjunctival Neoplasms
The most common conjunctival tumor is the nevus Conjunctival nevi can be pigmented or non-pigmented and often display cysts Conjunctival melanoma is rare but is slightly more common nowadays, similar to cutaneous melanoma Conjunctival melanoma can arise from a conjunctival nevus, conjunctival primary acquired melanosis, or de novo ...

Pathology of conjunctival melanocytic neoplasms
Abstract Purpose To describe the classification, grading and staging of conjunctival melanocytic proliferation. Methods We have audited our experience with conjunctival melanomas, using a novel mapping system and have found shortcomings in the current Tumour Node Metastasis (TNM) staging system.

Management of Conjunctival Neoplasms
Melanocytic neoplasms of the conjunctiva include nevus, primary acquired melanosis (PAM) without atypia, PAM with atypia, and conjunctival melanoma. The most common nonmelanocytic tumors of the conjunctiva are squamous cell neoplasms. Surgical excision is the cornerstone of therapy for conjunctival tumors. Proper specimen handling is critical to ensure

Reactor-Activated Applicators for Treatment of Conjunctival Neoplasms
Radiotherapy of superficial neoplasms and protoneoplasms arising in or on the ocular conjunctiva, while often effective, poses certain technical problems associated with the protection of sensitive structures within the eye and limiting the radiation to only the diseased part.

Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection and loss of P53 function have been identified as frequent events in various human tumors. The aim of this study was to evaluate P53 protein expression and to detect HPV in the tissue samples of 45 benign (papillomas) and 38 malignant conjunctival and eyelid lesions (27 basal cell carcinomas and 11 squamous cell ...

Eyelid and Conjunctival Neoplasms
The spectrum of neoplasms that can affect the eyelids and conjunctiva is vast. In this chapter, we review the epidemiology, clinical features, pathology, and management of these lesions. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common eyelid malignancy. Excision is the mainstay of treatment for this tumor that rarely metastasizes.
