As a commonly used Chinese herbal medicine, <i>Ganoderma applanatum </i>(Pers.) Pat., also known as flat-ling <i>Ganoderma </i>(Chinese name bianlingzhi), old mother fungus (laomujun), and old ox liver (laoniugan), has high medicinal value. It is used as an anti-cancer drug in China and Japan.

This article aims to determine and assess the usage of spelling in conks, which are indespensable sources for folk literature and folklore, with regard to classical texts, that are thought to be written in standard ortography. The literary works in standard ortographies have less mistakes in spelling.
