Exploring Elementary Students’ Mathematical Connection Ability Through Story Problem Solving: A Qualitative Insight Into Learning Challenges in Early Grade Classrooms

open access: yesJournal of Literacy Education
Background: Difficulties in early grade mathematics often arise when students are unable to recognize how mathematical ideas relate to one another or to situations expressed through language.

Calderón problem for connections [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Partial Differential Equations, 2017
ABSTRACTIn this paper, we consider the problem of identifying a connection ∇ on a vector bundle up to gauge equivalence from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map of the connection Laplacian ∇*∇ over conformally transversally anisotropic (CTA) manifolds. This was proved in [9] for line bundles in the case of the transversal manifold being simple—we generalize ...

Associations of Sleep and Shift Work With Osteoarthritis Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Daily rhythms may be critical for maintaining homeostasis of joint tissues. We aimed to investigate the relationships among circadian clock disruption, sleep, and osteoarthritis (OA) risk in humans. Methods In the UK Biobank, a prospective 500,000–person cohort, we evaluated associations among sleep duration, sleeplessness/insomnia, and shift

Retractions in Rheumatology: Trends, Causes, and Implications for Research Integrity

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to describe the trends and main reasons for study retraction in rheumatology literature. Methods We reviewed the Retraction Watch database to identify retracted articles in rheumatology. We recorded the main study characteristics, authors’ countries, reasons for retraction, time from publication to retraction, and trends over time ...

New Onset of Fibromyalgia After Exposure to a Combat Environment: A Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Traumatic life events are hypothesized to be triggers for the onset of fibromyalgia. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a common comorbidity of fibromyalgia. However, limited prospective data are available on the development of fibromyalgia after exposure to high‐magnitude stress.

On the connection between optimality conditions, variational inequalities and equilibrium problems

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 1994
In this note we underline, once more, the relationships between necessary optimality conditions for constrained extremum problems and the variational inequalities in finite dimension spaces.

The Line Connectivity Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper introduces the line connectivity problem, a generalization of the Steiner tree problem and a special case of the line planning problem. We study its complexity and give an IP formulation in terms of an exponential number of constraints associated with "line cut constraints". These inequalities can be separated in polynomial time.
